Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) causes drug-resistant epilepsy in children that can be cured surgically, but the lesions are often unseen by imaging. ⋯ A combination of multiple imaging techniques, including PET, ASL, and VBM analysis of T1-weighted images, is effective in detecting subtle FCD in children.

Evaluation of Selective Tibial Neurotomy for the Spastic Foot Treatment Using a Personal Goal-Centered Approach: A 1-Year Cohort Study.
Selective tibial neurotomy (STN) has already demonstrated its effectiveness to reduce foot deformities and spasticity, but assessment according to a goal-centered approach is missing. ⋯ This study showed that STN, associated with a postoperative rehabilitation program, successfully achieve personal goals in patients with spastic foot.

Surgeons can preoperatively assess bone quality using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry or computed tomography; however, this is not feasible for all patients. Recently, a MRI-based scoring system was used to evaluate the lumbar spine's vertebral bone quality. ⋯ We found that a higher C-VBQ score was significantly associated with cage subsidence after ACDF. Furthermore, there was a significant negative correlation between C-VBQ and HU. The C-VBQ score may be a valuable tool for assessing preoperative bone quality and independently predicting cage subsidence after ACDF.

Postoperative cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak is one of the most common complications after endoscopic endonasal approach to the skull base. ⋯ L-PRF reduced the rate of postoperative CSF leaks in patients with intraoperative leaks, without differences on postoperative meningitis.

Our previous study suggested that atlanto-occipital instability (AOI) is common in patients with type II basilar invagination (II-BI). ⋯ Dysplasia of the condyle and superior portion of C1-LM exists in both CM and II-BI cases yet is more obvious in type II-BI. Unstable movement caused by AOJ deformation is another pathogenic factor in patients with CM + II-BI.
