Communication has a well-established effect on improving outcomes. The current study evaluated the effect of multidisciplinary preoperative team communication using a digital huddle software platform on operating room costs. ⋯ The implementation of a digital huddle software platform resulted in an OR utilization and supply cost decrease among participants during a period when the overall nonparticipating control cohort experienced an increase in cost.

Assessment of thoracolumbar spine flexibility is crucial for determining which osteotomy to perform (posterior column osteotomy or 3-column osteotomy) to restore sagittal balance. Although preoperative bolster supine X-rays have been used to evaluate spine flexibility, their correlation with postoperative spinopelvic parameters has not been reported. We aimed to evaluate the predictive value of bolster X-ray for correcting sagittal deformities after thoracolumbar fusion surgery. ⋯ Bolster supine X-rays demonstrate good-to-excellent reliability with postoperative X-rays for segmental Cobb angles. These findings offer valuable insights into the selection of appropriate osteotomy techniques for clinical practice.

The unifying articular theory suggests that intraneural ganglion cysts in the cubital tunnel arise from the elbow joint and are connected to the ulnar nerve through an articular branch. This study aimed to report our clinical experience with these cysts and our surgical findings and outcomes. ⋯ The unifying articular theory of intraneural ganglion cysts applies to those located in the ulnar nerve at the elbow. Surgical disconnection of the articular nerve branch from the ulnar nerve eliminated the pathway for cyst recurrence and achieved good long-term outcomes.

Over a million sport-related concussions (SRC) affect children annually in the United States, posing a significant public health concern. Limited data exist on the premorbid risk factors and injury characteristics of SRCs in high school athletes. This study aims to understand acute SRC injury characteristics and describe premorbid risk factors in high school athletes. ⋯ Understanding SRC risk factors and characteristics in high school athletes is critical for developing prevention and management programs, guiding neurosurgeons in mitigating SRC risk, and informing return-to-play decisions.
