Clinically evident arterial thrombosis is rare following thrombin injection therapy for femoral pseudoaneurysm. However, it is unclear to what extent injected thrombin may pass to the ipsilateral lower limb arteries. ⋯ Technetium 99m is routinely deposited in the arterial circulation following injection of a mixture of thrombin and technetium for therapy of common femoral artery pseudoaneurysms. This suggests that arterial passage of thrombin is more common than clinically evident.

Hereditary haemochromatosis is often not diagnosed until adulthood. Iron overload cardiomyopathy initially results in diastolic dysfunction and can result in arrhythmias and irreversible cardiac failure if untreated. The aim of this study was to investigate whether patients with newly diagnosed hereditary haemochromatosis without signs of heart failure exhibit subclinical alterations of cardiac function and to determine if cardiac function improved after 1 year of venesection. ⋯ Among all measurements, radial strain, IVRT and left atrial force were shown to significantly improve following a 1-year course of venesection, suggesting that these parameters could be used to identify subclinical cardiac dysfunction in patients with iron overload secondary to hereditary haemochromatosis and to guide intensification of venesection therapy.

The acquisition and assimilation of knowledge through history-taking and clinical skills practice are core aspects of training for medical students. Interns, who have recently graduated and have entered into clinical practice, are uniquely positioned to assume a pivotal role in student education. ⋯ Participation in intern-delivered teaching leads to clinical and educational benefits for both students and interns. However, several logistical barriers were identified and require refinement.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common comorbidity of childhood epilepsy. ADHD symptoms in children with epilepsy have been studied since 1970s in western countries. However, relative studies are still rather limited in China. ⋯ Children with epilepsy have more attention problems as compared with healthy controls. ADHD in childhood epilepsy is associated with male sex, younger age, early first onset age, high frequency of epileptic seizures, and multiple AEDs.

To rationalize the ordering of trauma cervical spine radiographs via the institution of electronic clinical decision support criteria. ⋯ Introduction of clinical indication criteria to the electronic ordering system for cervical spine radiographs in trauma patients reduced the total number of requests by 30.7% while increasing the proportion which were indicated to 99.2%.
