There is currently limited population-based data on the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on bullous pemphigoid (BP) inpatients. ⋯ Our findings suggest that BP inpatients with T2DM have a greater medical comorbidity and complication burden. However, inpatient mortality was not increased.

Renal cell carcinoma or RCC is a type of malignancy commonly occurred in the human kidney especially in the adults. The pathogenesis of RCC involves the complex networking of multiple signaling pathways, and the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unclear. ⋯ In summary, UBA2 was able to enhance the proliferation, inhibit the apoptosis, and suppress cell cycle arrest in RCC cells by targeting the p53 pathway.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disease among women in the reproductive age that is associated with consequences such as insulin resistance and hyperandrogenemia. This study was aimed to assess the association of sex hormone profile and kisspeptin levels in PCOS women in Gorgan, Iran. ⋯ PCOS patients had lower plasma kisspeptin level that was positively correlated with LH and estradiol levels. Also, higher levels of free androgens were demonstrated in these patients. It is suggested that kisspeptin may be involved in complex interactions of the sex hormone endocrine system of PCOS.

Appendicitis is a common general surgical emergency. The role of removing a normal appendix is debated. However, this relies on accurate intra-operative diagnosis of a normal appendix by the operating surgeon. This study aimed to compare surgeon's intra-operative assessment to final histological result acute appendicitis in paediatric and adult patients. ⋯ The results of this study highlight some discordance between histological evidence of acute appendicitis and intra-operative impression. Therefore other clinical variables and not just macroscopic appearance alone should be used when deciding to perform appendicectomy.
