Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) small nucleolar RNA host gene 6 (SNHG6) has been shown to be upregulated in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, its detailed function in ESCC remains unknown. We investigated its specific roles in ESCC cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. ⋯ Downregulation of SNHG6 inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of ESCC cells through regulating miR-186-5p/HIF1α axis, providing a novel therapeutic target for ESCC.

Patients with end-stage liver disease (ESLD) experience frequent readmissions; however, studies focused on patients' and caregivers' perceptions of their transitional care experiences to identify root causes of burdensome transitions of care are lacking. ⋯ Transitional care models that attend to the informational, psychosocial, and practical domains of care are needed to better support patients with ESLD and their caregivers at the time of diagnosis and beyond. Without attending to the multidimensional care needs of newly diagnosed patients with ESLD and their caregivers, they are at risk of burdensome transitions of care, high healthcare utilization, and poor health-related quality of life.

Evidence is now available in support of using fecal biomarkers to monitor disease activity in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Patient adherence is often cited as a barrier to implementation. We assessed patient determinants for using stool tests to monitor disease activity. ⋯ Accuracy is the most important criteria for IBD patients when choosing monitoring strategies, and a high degree of confidence is required of stool test results for patients to choose this strategy.

A Randomized Control Trial of Thromboelastography-Guided Transfusion in Cirrhosis for High-Risk Invasive Liver-Related Procedures.
Hemostasis in cirrhosis is dynamic and balanced. Thromboelastography (TEG) assesses global coagulation status. We aimed to assess whether TEG-guided blood product transfusions result in lower blood product requirements in patients with cirrhosis undergoing invasive liver-related procedures as compared to the conventional standard of care (SOC). ⋯ TEG-guided blood product transfusion strategy reduces blood product transfusion without increased risk of bleeding in cirrhotic patients undergoing invasive liver-related procedures (CTRI/2017/12/010822).
