Although studies have examined the association between bullying victimization and adolescent substance behaviors, there is a dearth of research investigating the association between bullying victimization and prescription drug misuse. The objective of this study was to examine the cross-sectional association between bullying victimization and prescription drug misuse among adolescents. ⋯ Understanding the association between bullying victimization and prescription drug misuse could contribute to early identification of adolescents who may misuse prescription drugs.

The high recurrence of major depressive disorder (MDD) may derive from underlying state-independent structural alterations. ⋯ Left precentral gyrus CT and left SFG gyrification alterations may represent state-independent alterations in MDD.

Depression and anxiety are prevalent psychiatric disorders that carry significant morbidity. Pharmacological and psychosocial interventions are used to manage these conditions, but their efficacy is limited. Recent interest into the use of psychedelic-assisted therapy using ayahuasca, psilocybin or lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) may be a promising alternative for patients unresponsive to traditional treatments. This review aims to determine the efficacy and tolerability of psychedelics in the management of resistant depression. ⋯ Though further evidence is required, psychedelics appear to be effective in significantly reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety and are well-tolerated.

Limited published research has examined the relationships of coping styles and sleep quality with anxiety symptoms in Chinese school adolescents. We aimed to explore the effect of coping styles and sleep quality on anxiety symptoms. Furthermore, we investigated the interactions of coping styles and sleep quality with anxiety symptoms. ⋯ The results of our study showed a higher prevalence of anxiety symptoms compared with the result of a previous study in Chinese school adolescents. Negative coping style and poor sleep quality were associated with an increased prevalence of anxiety symptoms, whereas positive coping style was related to a decreased prevalence of anxiety symptoms. Sleep quality was a mediating factor between negative coping style and anxiety symptoms.

The neural basis of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) which is a clinical syndrome characterized by emotional and cognitive impairments is poorly understood. Accumulating evidence has suggested that the insula is an important substrate underlying the mechanism of MDD. This study aimed to examine the disrupted resting-state brain regional function in insula and to further investigate the associated resting-state functional connectivity (rs-FC) of insula underlie the MDD in adolescents and young adults. ⋯ This study highlights the regional/network interaction abnormalities of insula in adolescents and young adults with MDD, and could provide further insight into understanding the neural pathomechanism of MDD in young patients.
