Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyWeight and metabolic effects of dietary weight loss and exercise interventions in postmenopausal antidepressant medication users and non-users: a randomized controlled trial.
Antidepressants may attenuate the effects of diet and exercise programs. We compared adherence and changes in body measures and biomarkers of glucose metabolism and inflammation between antidepressant users and non-users in a 12-month randomized controlled trial. ⋯ Dietary weight loss and exercise improved body measures and biomarkers of glucose metabolism and inflammation independent of antidepressant use.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomised controlled trial of financial incentives to increase hepatitis B vaccination completion among people who inject drugs in Australia.
This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of modest financial incentives in increasing completion of an accelerated 3-dose hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination schedule (0, 7, 21days) among people who inject drugs (PWID). ⋯ Modest financial incentives, per-dose, increased adherence to the accelerated HBV vaccination schedule among PWID. Results have implications for increasing HBV and, potentially, other vaccine-preventable infections, among PWID.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effects of a lifestyle intervention on leisure-time sedentary behaviors in adults at risk: the Hoorn Prevention Study, a randomized controlled trial.
This study set out to assess the short- and long-term effects of a primary care-based lifestyle intervention on different domains of leisure-time sedentary behaviors in Dutch adults at risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. ⋯ A primary care-based general lifestyle intervention was not more effective in reducing leisure-time sedentary behaviors than providing brochures in adults at risk for chronic diseases.

Randomized Controlled TrialImpact of an intervention through teachers to prevent consumption of low nutrition, energy-dense foods and beverages: a randomized trial.
To examine the effects of an intervention program held by teachers previously trained in nutrition, on the consumption of low nutrient, energy-dense (LNED) foods, of children attending elementary schools. ⋯ Our study provides further support for the success of intervention programs aimed at limiting the consumption of solid LNED foods in children.

Randomized Controlled TrialIncreasing physical activity in young primary school children--it's child's play: a cluster randomised controlled trial.
To explore the effects of an innovative school-based intervention for increasing physical activity. ⋯ Capturing children's intrinsic motivations to play while simultaneously helping adults reconsider views of free play as risky provided increases in physical activity during break times. Using accelerometry as the sole measure of physical activity may underestimate the effect.
