To investigate the effect of screening and five years of multi-factorial lifestyle intervention on changes in alcohol intake in a general population. ⋯ Multi-factorial lifestyle intervention, including low intensity alcohol intervention, improved long-term alcohol habits in a general population.

To assess the feasibility, acceptability, and potential efficacy of a school-based obesity prevention program among adolescent boys with sub-optimal cardiorespiratory fitness. ⋯ This study verified the feasibility, acceptability and potential efficacy of a multifaceted school-based intervention to prevent unhealthy weight gain among adolescent boys.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effect of a 12 week walking intervention on markers of insulin resistance and systemic inflammation.
The purpose of the present study was to determine whether a community-based walking intervention, using pedometers, is effective in reducing systemic inflammatory markers. ⋯ We conclude that the current community-based intervention did not affect systemic markers of inflammation or insulin sensitivity.

Randomized Controlled TrialA tailored Internet-plus-email intervention for increasing physical activity among ethnically-diverse women.
To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of an individually tailored, Internet-plus-email physical activity intervention designed for adult women. ⋯ A tailored, Internet-based intervention for adult women had a positive effect on walking and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity in an ethnically-diverse sample. However, given the lack of comparable research contact in the control group, these findings should be taken cautiously.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe effectiveness of a school-based substance abuse prevention program: EU-Dap cluster randomised controlled trial.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the school-based drug abuse prevention program developed in the EU-Dap study (EUropean Drug Abuse Prevention trial) in preventing the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs at the post-test. ⋯ School curricula based on a comprehensive social-influence model may delay progression to daily smoking and episodes of drunkenness.
