Influence of the Preoperative C-Reactive Protein-to-Albumin Ratio on Survival and Recurrence in Patients With Esophageal Cancer.
Several immune-inflammatory markers are associated with cancer progression. The purpose of the present study was to clarify the influence of the preoperative C-reactive protein-to-albumin ratio (CRP/ALB ratio) on survival of patients with esophageal cancer and recurrence after curative resection. ⋯ The preoperative CRP/ALB ratio was a strong prognostic marker for patients with esophageal cancer. The surgical strategy, including procedure and perioperative care should be carefully planned for patients with a high CRP/ALB ratio.

Adjuvant Chemotherapy and Dose Escalation in Definitive Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
To validate the effect of treatment intensification on survival in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients undergoing definitive concurrent chemoradiotherapy (dCCRT). ⋯ The addition of chemotherapy after dCCRT improves OS. A higher radiotherapy dose improved LRFS, but not OS. Adjuvant chemotherapy should be considered after dCCRT for better outcomes.

Surgical Outcomes of Laparoscopic and Open D3 Dissection for Clinical Stage II/III Descending Colon Cancer.
To compare the surgical outcomes of laparoscopic colectomy (LAC) with Japanese D3 dissection for descending colon cancer (DCC) with those of open colectomy (OC). ⋯ LAC is an acceptable treatment option for stage II/III DCC.

Review Meta AnalysisCurrent Treatment of Colorectal Liver Metastasis as a Chronic Disease.
The treatment of colorectal liver metastases is challenging and requires multidisciplinary strategies. Unfortunately, only 25% of patients with colorectal liver metastases are eligible for liver resection. Due to the variety of therapeutic approaches, this percentage has increased; however, at the same time, the definition of resectability has become complex. The aim of this review was to provide an overview of current surgical therapies for colorectal liver metastases. ⋯ Currently, liver metastases from colorectal cancer are considered a chronic disease. In cases of advanced colorectal liver metastases, the definition of resectability and the indications for surgical treatment should be exclusively determined by experienced hepatobiliary surgeons.

Randomized Controlled TrialBrief Pain Inventory (BPI) Health Survey After Midline Laparotomy With the Rectus Sheath Block (RSB) Analgesia: A Randomised Trial of Patients With Cancer and Benign Disease.
Our original hypothesis was that the rectus sheath block (RSB) analgesia could enhance patient satisfaction and decrease pain following midline laparotomy. ⋯ The higher elevation in BPI severity score and decrease in interference score values in the repeated dose group and also the time effect in a linear mixed model in BPI interference score were statistically significant.
