Multicenter StudyPhase II study of a triple combination of oral vinorelbine, capecitabine and trastuzumab as first-line treatment in HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer.
Chemotherapy plus trastuzumab is the standard first-line treatment for Human Epidermal Receptor 2-positive (HER2-positive) metastatic breast cancer. The aim of this international phase II trial was to determine the efficacy and safety profile of an oral chemotherapy doublet, oral vinorelbine plus capecitabine, and trastuzumab in this setting. ⋯ The triple combination of oral vinorelbine, capecitabine and trastuzumab is highly active in terms of response rate, progression-free survival and overall survival, with a manageable toxicity profile.

Multicenter StudyUse of paclitaxel for advanced ovarian cancer in clinical practice: analysis of 541 patients. Results from a German multi-centre observational study.
Paclitaxel is one of the most common antitumour agents paclitaxel for the treatment of primary and relapsed ovarian cancer. Based on a German multicentre observational study, this article reflects the use of paclitaxel in German daily clinical practice. ⋯ Paclitaxel is broadly used in the management of patients with primary and relapsed ovarian cancer. The toxicity profile observed seems to be within the range of the results of clinical phase-III studies. The doses applied and the schedules based on the official recommendation of the working groups seem to have been influenced by international studies.

Multicenter StudyPhase II study of erlotinib in Japanese patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of erlotinib, an epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, in Japanese patients with relapsed or recurrent advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ Erlotinib has promising antitumour activity and is generally well tolerated in Japanese patients with previously treated NSCLC.

Multicenter StudyMulticentre phase II trial of paclitaxel and carboplatin with concurrent radiotherapy in locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer.
To evaluate weekly induction chemotherapy followed by weekly concomitant chemoradiotherapy in a multicentre phase II study of patients with unresectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC; stage wet IIIB excluded). ⋯ Induction chemotherapy followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy with weekly cycles of paclitaxel and carboplatin is feasible and generates moderate toxicity. Efficacy is comparable to other recently published regimens. However, prognosis remains, in general, poor for this group of patients and further work to develop better therapy is required.

Multicenter StudyImpact of complementary treatment of breast cancer patients with standardized mistletoe extract during aftercare: a controlled multicenter comparative epidemiological cohort study.
To investigate the safety and efficacy of complementary treatment of breast cancer patients with the standardized mistletoe extract (sME) HELIXOR in routine practice during aftercare through a multicenter comparative epidemiological cohort study with 53 randomly selected hospitals/practices representatively distributed in Germany, including oncologists, gynaecologists and general practitioners. ⋯ Complementary treatment with the sME HELIXOR proved to be beneficial for breast cancer patients since it significantly improved quality of life and significantly reduced persistant signs/symptoms of the disease/treatment during the validated aftercare period of approximately five years.
