To compare prospectively ECG gated CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) with routine helical ungated CTPA for cardiac related motion artifacts and patient radiation dose. ⋯ Compared to routine helical ungated CTPA, prospectively ECG gated CTPA may result in less cardiac related motion artifact in lung segments adjacent to the heart and significantly less patient radiation dose.

The usefulness of 2-[(18)F]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose ((18)F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) has been investigated in thymic epithelial tumors. However, little is known about PET imaging of (18)F-FDG in primary non-thymic mediastinal neoplasms. The aim of this study is to explore the clinicopathological significance of (18)F-FDG PET in primary mediastinal (non-thymic) neoplasms. ⋯ The amount of (18)F-FDG uptake in primary mediastinal non-thymic neoplasms is determined by the presence of glucose metabolism (Glut1), hypoxia (HIF-1α) and upstream components of HIF-1α (EGFR, p-Akt and p-S6K).

To investigate the added value of volume on post-contrast three dimensional (3D) T1-weighted image (T1WI) over classical cross-sectional area on two dimensional (2D) T1WI in evaluating tumor response in glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). ⋯ Tumor cross-sectional area on post-contrast 2D T1WI appears comparable to volume on 3D T1WI and should still be a practical alternate of volume on 3D for evaluating tumor response.

To retrospectively compare radiation dose and image quality of pediatric chest CT using a routine dose protocol reconstructed with filtered back projection (FBP) (the Routine study) and a low-dose protocol with 50% adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR) (the ASIR study). ⋯ A low-dose protocol with 50% ASIR allows radiation dose reduction in pediatric chest CT by more than 55% while maintaining image quality.
