Retroversion of the acetabulum is a cause of pincer impingement. Symptomatic retroversion has traditionally been treated with anteverting periacetabular osteotomy (PAO). However, arthroscopic rim trimming can also treat pincer impingement associated with acetabular retroversion. The purpose of this study was to report the outcomes and radiographic findings in a series of adolescent patients with symptomatic acetabular retroversion treated arthroscopically. ⋯ Level of evidence 4-case series.

The early diagnosis of pediatric septic arthritis is paramount to the prevention of long-term sequela. The purpose of this study is to investigate if the commonly used criteria developed by Kocher and colleagues for hip septic arthritis can be used for screening children with suspected septic knee. ⋯ Level III.

Idiopathic talipes equinovarus (ITEV) is a prevalent structural deformity of the foot and ankle in children. The disease-specific instrument (DSI) has commonly been used as an outcomes metric in these patients. The Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) was developed to examine the quality of life across various medical conditions. PROMIS has been validated for multiple conditions; however, no studies have evaluated the use of the PROMIS in children with ITEV. ⋯ Level II-prospective comparative study.

The treatment of a first-time traumatic patella dislocation in children and adolescents remains controversial. Preference-based health utility assessments can provide health-related quality of life information for orthopaedic conditions and their subsequent treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine utilities for pediatric acute traumatic patella dislocation and subsequent treatment health states from both children with patellar dislocation, and their parents. ⋯ Level III.

Although ultrasound (US) is frequently used in diagnosis and management of infantile developmental dysplasia of the hip, precise ultrasonographic parameters of what constitutes a dislocation, subluxation etc remain poorly defined. The purpose of this study was (1) to describe the ultrasonographic characteristics of a large cohort of clinically dislocated but reducible hips and (2) to begin to develop ultrasonographic definitions for what constitutes a hip dislocation. ⋯ Level IV-diagnostic study.
