Therapeutic hypothermia (TH) is considered a standard of care in the post-resuscitation phase of cardiac arrest. In experimental models of traumatic brain injury (TBI), TH was found to have neuroprotective properties. However, TH failed to demonstrate beneficial effects on neurological outcome in patients with TBI. ⋯ The control of the rewarming phase is crucial to avoid temperature overshooting and should not exceed 1°C/day. Besides its use in the management of intracranial hypertension, therapeutic cooling is also essential to treat hyperthermia in brain-injured patients. In this review, we will discuss the benefit-risk balance and practical aspects of therapeutic temperature management in TBI patients.

Multicenter Study[Regional survey of peripheral nerve block practice by French residents.]
There are limited data on peripheral nerve block (PNB) practices by residents in France, especially with after introduction of ultrasound. A survey was conducted on PNB practices by French residents. ⋯ The majority of procedures performed by the residents are using ultrasound. The procedure is usually fast, requiring mainly a single puncture and has a high rate of success.

Case ReportsTamponade a rare cause of shock in patients with pancreatitis: Difficulty of diagnostic in patients with positive pressure ventilation.
The causes of hemodynamic instability in acute pancreatitis are numerous. Although pericardial effusion during pancreatitis is common, a cardiac tamponade is rarely reported. The diagnosis of compressive cardiac disorders (CDD) by echocardiography is easily reported when the patient is breathing spontaneously; it becomes difficult when the patient is assisted with positive pressure ventilation.

Impact of noradrenaline infusion set on mean arterial pressure: A retrospective clinical study.
Noradrenaline (NA) can be infused through various systems including single or double syringe pumps. The aim of this study was to define the best and most efficient infusion system in an emergency context. ⋯ The use of a double syringe pump system associated with a very low dead-space volume infusion set appears to be the most appropriate system for NA infusion.

Case Reports[Tension pneumocephalus after surgical treatment of a bilateral chronic subdural hematoma: A banal and serious complication].
The occurrence of postoperative pneumocephalus is a common event and is often trivial. When the intracranial air volume is significant, it creates intracranial hypertension causing tension pneumocephalus. ⋯ The attending physicians should be aware of the possibility of occurrence of such complication. Treatment and prevention of pneumocephalus should also be well known by the medical staff.
