Comparative Study
Efficacy of hypotonic 0.18% sodium hyaluronate eye drops in patients with dry eye disease.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of hypotonic 0.18% sodium hyaluronate (SH) eye drops under the clinical settings of the dry eye workshop treatment guideline for mild dry eye disease (DED). ⋯ Hypotonic 0.18% SH eye drops seemed to be effective in improving tear film stability and ocular surface integrity compared with isotonic 0.1% SH eye drops in patients with mild DED.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Additive Effect of preservative-free sodium hyaluronate 0.1% in treatment of dry eye syndrome with diquafosol 3% eye drops.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the treatment effect of diquafosol 3% with preservative-free sodium hyaluronate 0.1% eye drops in dry eye syndrome. ⋯ Treatment with diquafosol 3% with preservative-free sodium hyaluronate 0.1% was more effective than diquafosol 3% monotherapy or treatment with preserved sodium hyaluronate 0.1% in dry eye syndrome. Preservative-free sodium hyaluronate 0.1% eye drops can increase the effect of diquafosol 3% in dry eye syndrome.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of storing anterior corneal buttons split from donor Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) tissue for later use in tectonic lamellar patch grafting. ⋯ Anterior corneal buttons from DSAEK donor tissue may be stored in Optisol GS for later use in tectonic patch grafting. This method obviates the longer operating time required for the surgeon to manually dissect the donor cornea in the operating room and reduces the wastage of precious donor corneas in countries where there are chronic shortages of eye bank donor tissue.

The aim of this study was to describe clinical manifestations of herpetic ocular infection caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV), varicella zoster virus (VZV), and cytomegalovirus (CMV) in a referral center in Northern Italy. ⋯ Manifestations of herpetic ocular disease in our patients are comparable with other published series. However, the rate of ocular complications and recurrences during follow-up were higher compared with other series.

Comparative Study
Comparison of tensile strength of slip knots with that of 3-1-1 knots using 10-0 nylon sutures.
The aim of this study was to compare the tensile strength of slip knots with that of 3-1-1 knots using 10-0 nylon sutures. ⋯ In 10-0 nylon sutures, the 3-1-1 knot has a statistically significant greater tensile strength than the slip knot has in conditions wherein they fail by either breakage or unraveling.
