In-hospital versus out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: Characteristics and outcomes in patients admitted to intensive care after return of spontaneous circulation.
Cardiac arrest is characterized depending on location as in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) or out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Strategies for Post Cardiac Arrest Care were developed based on evidence from OHCA. The aim of this study was to compare characteristics and outcomes in patients admitted to intensive care after IHCA and OHCA. ⋯ In patients admitted to intensive care after cardiac arrest, patients who suffered IHCA vs OHCA differed in demographics, co-morbidities, cardiac arrest characteristics and outcomes. In multivariable analyses, cardiac arrest characteristics were independent predictors of outcome, whereas location of arrest (IHCA vs OHCA) was not.

Effect of vasopressin and methylprednisolone vs. placebo on long-term outcomes in patients with in-hospital cardiac arrest a randomized clinical trial.
The primary results from the Vasopressin and Methylprednisolone for In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (VAM-IHCA) trial have previously been reported. The objective of the current manuscript is to report long-term outcomes. ⋯ Administration of vasopressin and methylprednisolone, compared with placebo, in patients with in-hospital cardiac arrest did not improve long-term outcomes in this trial.

Establishing a multicenter, preclinical consortium in resuscitation: A pilot experimental trial evaluating epinephrine in cardiac arrest.
Large animal studies are an important step in the translation pathway, but single laboratory experiments do not replicate the variability in patient populations. Our objective was to demonstrate the feasibility of performing a multicenter, preclinical, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled cardiac arrest trial. We evaluated the effect of epinephrine on coronary perfusion pressure (CPP) as previous single laboratory studies have reported mixed results. ⋯ This study demonstrated the feasibility of performing a multicenter, preclinical, randomized, double-blinded cardiac arrest trials. Standard dose epinephrine by bolus or continuous infusion did not increase coronary perfusion pressure during CPR when compared to placebo.

Outcomes of Pediatric Patients with COVID-19 and In-Hospital Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
Early studies found low survival rates for adults with COVID-19 infection and in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA). We evaluated the association of COVID-19 infection on survival outcomes in pediatric patients undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). ⋯ In a large multicenter national registry of CPR events, COVID-19 infection was not associated with lower rates of ROSC or survival to hospital discharge in pediatric patients undergoing CPR.

To compare in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) rates and patient outcomes during the first COVID-19 wave in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2020 with the same period in previous years. ⋯ In comparison with 2016-2019, the first COVID-19 wave in 2020 was associated with a higher rate of IHCA and decreased survival among patients attended by resuscitation teams. These changes were greatest in hospitals with the highest COVID-19 burden.
