Advanced airway interventions for paediatric cardiac arrest: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To assess the use of advanced airway interventions (tracheal intubation (TI) or supraglottic airway (SGA) placement), compared with bag mask ventilation (BMV) alone, for resuscitation of children in cardiac arrest. ⋯ TI or SGA are not superior to BMV for resuscitation of children in cardiac arrest, but the overall certainty of evidence is low to very low. Well designed randomised efficacy trials are needed to address this important question.

Diagnostic performance of optic nerve sheath diameter for predicting neurologic outcome in post-cardiac arrest patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
We evaluated the diagnostic performance of optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) for prediction of neurologic outcome in post-cardiac arrest patients and relative prediction performance according to ONSD measurement modality. ⋯ ONSD may be useful for predicting neurologic outcomes in post-cardiac arrest patients. Measuring the ONSD specifically using ocular ultrasound, application in patients with cardiac-origin cardiac arrest, and using the Glasgow-Pittsburgh Cerebral Performance Categories for neurologic outcome evaluation are recommended for more accurately predicting neurologic outcomes.

Procalcitonin as a prognostic marker for outcomes in post-cardiac arrest patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This study aimed to seek evidence for the usefulness of the procalcitonin as a prognostic blood biomarker for outcomes in post-cardiac arrest patients. ⋯ Overall, the findings suggested that an elevated procalcitonin level measured at 0-48 h of post-cardiac arrest syndrome was associated with poor outcomes.

Double sequential external defibrillation for refractory ventricular fibrillation out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Double sequential external defibrillation (DSED) is a novel intervention which has shown potential in the management of refractory ventricular fibrillation (VF). This review aims to identify the literature surrounding the use of DSED in out-of-hospital refractory VF and assess whether this intervention improves survival outcomes. ⋯ The effectiveness of DSED remains unclear. Further well-designed prospective studies are needed to determine whether DSED has a role in the treatment of refractory VF.

Chest-compression-only versus conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation by bystanders for children with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
For children with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, previous observational studies regarding chest-compression-only CPR (CC-CPR) versus conventional CPR yielded inconsistent results. We aimed to summarize the current evidence and compare the outcomes after CC-CPR with those after conventional CPR by bystanders in children with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. ⋯ Children who receive conventional CPR for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest may have better outcomes than those who receive CC-CPR. Due to the limited number of studies and lack of randomized trials included in this meta-analysis, more evidence is needed to confirm our findings.
