The incidence and outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest precipitated by drug overdose: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) precipitated by drug overdose (OD) are becoming an increasing public health problem in developed countries. Empirical data on the global incidence and outcomes are needed to guide preventive and treatment strategies. ⋯ The incidence and survival outcomes of drug OD OHCA varies substantially across regions. Effective strategies designed to reduce incidence and improve survival outcomes are needed.

Gray matter to white matter ratio for predicting neurological outcomes in patients treated with target temperature management after cardiac arrest: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic accuracy of the gray matter to white matter ratio (GWR) in predicting neurological outcomes in post-cardiac arrest patients treated with target temperature management. ⋯ GWR in the early cranial computed tomography scan had high prognostic value in predicting poor neurological outcomes in post-cardiac arrest patients. The BG GWR had the highest prognostic accuracy when compared to other locations of the brain.

One-year survival after in-hospital cardiac arrest: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
In-hospital cardiac arrest is a major adverse event with an incidence of 1-6/1000 admissions. It has been poorly researched and data on survival is limited. The outcome of interest in IHCA research is predominantly survival to discharge, however recent guidelines warrant for more long-term outcomes. In this systematic review we sought to quantitatively summarize one-year survival after in-hospital cardiac arrest. ⋯ One-year survival after in-hospital cardiac arrest is poor. Survival is higher in patients admitted to cardiac wards. The time trend between 1985-2018 has shown a modest improvement in one-year survival rates. Research into IHCA population characteristics might elicit the issue of heterogeneity and stagnated survival over the past decades.

Effectiveness of digital resuscitation training in improving knowledge and skills: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
This review aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital resuscitation training in improving knowledge and skill compared with standard resuscitation training. ⋯ Despite the wide variation in digital resuscitation trainings, evidence suggesting the use of digital resuscitation training for improving knowledge and skills is inadequate. Well-designed non-inferiority RCTs in multiple settings with follow-up data and large sample size are needed to ensure the robustness of the evidence.

Impact of adult advanced cardiac life support course participation on patient outcomes-A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of the prior participation of one or more members of the adult resuscitation team in an accredited advanced life support course on patient outcomes (return of spontaneous circulation, survival to discharge, survival to 30 days, and survival to 1 year). ⋯ The inference of this review is that the advanced life support courses have a positive impact upon return of spontaneous circulation and survival to hospital discharge. The data also implies a positive impact upon survival to 30 days of adult cardiac arrest patients.
