It is a physician's certified continuing medical education category-rather than their actual medical activity, in this case in the field of trauma surgery-that is decisive in filling statutory health insurance (SHI) practice vacancies. This evaluation arising from §16 of the requirement planning guideline applies accordingly when filling physician vacancies. Thus physician vacancies or statutory health insurance (SHI) practice places can only be filled by a physician in the same physician group in line with requirement planning. Scope for argumentation initially remains in the context of filling surgical SHI physician vacancies where the ceding physician is certified as an accident insurance consultant.

Hyperextension injuries of the subaxial cervical spine are potentially hazardous due to relevant destabilization. Depending on the clinical condition, neurologic or vascular damage may occur. Therefore an exact knowledge of the factors leading to destabilization is essential. ⋯ Isolated dissection of the anterior longitudinal ligament led to minor destabilization, whereas the intervertebral disc has to be seen as a major stabilizer of the cervical spine. Few finite-element studies showed comparable results. If a transfer to clinical use is undertaken, an isolated rupture of the anterior longitudinal ligament can be treated without surgical stabilization.

Since 2014, hospitals with ortho-geriatric fracture centres could be certified as AltersTraumaZentrum DGU® in Germany. To measure the quality of treatment in these centres, a geriatric trauma registry (AltersTraumaRegister DGU®) was established. ⋯ Based on the timing of surgery and anti-osteoporotic therapy, the treatment seems to be successful in the ortho-geriatric fracture centres. For a better evaluation of treatment quality in the AltersTraumaZentren DGU®, implementation of follow-up examinations in the AltersTraumaRegister DGU® is essential.

The present case shows the long-term follow-up of a rare injury due to blunt abdominal trauma in childhood. The patient suffered from a traumatic transsection to the A. iliaca communis, which was restored by the combination of a direct suture with a venous autologous patch. ⋯ Due to the limited number of experiences with this rare injury reported in the literature, there is a lack of consensus on the suture technique and use of patches or grafts. The demonstrated technique supplies a possible treatment for this rare injury to infantine arteries.

The reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament has been an increasingly popular approach for patellar instability over the last ten years. It is a conglomeration of symptoms with varying degree of severity. For pinpointed surgery planning, magnetic resonance imaging is now the obligate diagnosic tool. Therefore, in the preoperative stage, collateral pathology can be observed.
