Ultrasound-guided Versus Computed Tomography Fluoroscopy-assisted Cervical Transforaminal Steroid Injection for the Treatment of Radicular Pain in the Lower Cervical Spine: A Randomized Single-blind Controlled Noninferiority Study.
To estimate the contrast dispersion short-term clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound (US)-guided transforaminal steroid injection (TFSI) compared with computed tomography (CT) guidance for the treatment of cervical radicular pain. ⋯ This study demonstrated that US provided a noninferior injectate spread pattern and similar improvement of radicular pain and functional status when compared with CT-guided TFSI. US may be advantageous during this procedure because it allows visualization of critical vessels and avoids radiation exposure.

Advantages of Transmuscular Quadratus Lumborum Block via Subfascial Approach versus Extrafascial Approach for Postoperative Analgesia after Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: A Randomized Controlled Study.
We aimed to compare the analgesic effect and incidence of lower limb weakness of transmuscular quadratus lumborum (TQL) block via subfascial approach with that via extrafascial after laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). ⋯ TQL block via subfascial had the advantages of better analgesic effect and less lower limbs weakness after LC over that via extrafascial.

Effect of Combined Epidural Morphine and Midazolam on Postoperative Pain in Patients Undergoing Major Abdominal Cancer Surgery.
The objective was to compare analgesic effect of combined epidural morphine-midazolam with either drug alone on postoperative pain in patients undergoing major abdominal cancer surgery. ⋯ Addition of midazolam to epidural morphine prolonged time of first analgesic request and decreased total analgesic consumption.

Development and Testing of a Communication Intervention to Improve Chronic Pain Management in Primary Care: A Pilot Randomized Clinical Trial.
Effective communication skills are essential for optimally managing chronic pain and opioids. This exploratory, sequential mixed methods study tested the effect of a novel framework designed to improve pain-related communication and outcomes. ⋯ This study developed a novel framework and intervention for teaching clinician pain-related communications skills. Although the intervention showed promise, more intensive or multicomponent interventions may be needed to have a significant impact on clinicians' pain-related communication and pain outcomes.

Adding Dexamethasone to Adductor Canal Block Combined With iPACK Block Improve Postoperative Analgesia of Total Knee Arthroplasty.
Both adductor canal block (ACB) and infiltration between the popliteal artery and capsule of the knee (iPACK) block are mainly sensory blocks, preserving muscle strength and the ability to ambulate. This study was designed to evaluate whether adding dexamethasone to ropivacaine could improve postoperative analgesia after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ Compared with using ropivacaine alone, ultrasonic-guided ACB combined with iPACK using ropivacaine and dexamethasone could prolong the duration of postoperative analgesia and strength analgesic intensity and promote the early rehabilitation exercise of patients undergoing TKA.
