Multicenter StudyVariability in Point-of-Care Lung Ultrasound Findings in Pediatric COVID-19 Patients: A Multicenter Case Series.
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has been described as a useful tool for identification of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in adults and children. Although several case reports describe POCUS findings in children with COVID-19, to our knowledge, there have been no published multicenter case series describing the large heterogeneity in lung POCUS findings in pediatric COVID-19. ⋯ The findings were variable, ranging from no findings to the appearance of B-lines, pleural abnormalities, consolidations, and a pleural effusion. Further studies are needed to improve our understanding, characterization, and prognostic correlation of POCUS findings in this novel disease in children.

Multicenter StudyHow Are Clinicians Treating Children With Sepsis in Emergency Departments in Latin America?: An International Multicenter Survey.
Guidelines adherence in emergency departments (EDs) relies partly on the availability of resources to improve sepsis care and outcomes. Our objective was to assess the management of pediatric septic shock (PSS) in Latin America's EDs and to determine the impact of treatment coordinated by a pediatric emergency specialist (PEMS) versus nonpediatric emergency specialists (NPEMS) on guidelines adherence. ⋯ In some Latin American countries, there is variability in self-reported adherence to the evidence-based recommendations for the treatment of PSS during the first hour. The coordination by PEMS support greater adherence to these recommendations.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyChange in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Performance Over Time During Simulated Pediatric Cardiac Arrest and the Effect of Just-in-Time Training and Feedback.
Effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is critical to ensure optimal outcomes from cardiac arrest, yet trained health care providers consistently struggle to provide guideline-compliant CPR. Rescuer fatigue can impact chest compression (CC) quality during a cardiac arrest event, although it is unknown if visual feedback or just-in-time training influences change of CC quality over time. In this study, we attempt to describe the changes in CC quality over a 12-minute simulated resuscitation and examine the influence of just-in-time training and visual feedback on CC quality over time. ⋯ There was no significant drop in CC depth over a 12-minute cardiac arrest scenario with 2 team members providing compressions.

Multicenter StudyTrends in Imaging Findings, Interventions, and Outcomes Among Children With Isolated Head Trauma.
The aim was to analyze the impact of decreased head computed tomography (CT) imaging on detection of abnormalities and outcomes for children with isolated head trauma. ⋯ The recent decline in CT scanning in children with isolated head trauma was associated with a reduction in detection of intracranial abnormalities, and a concomitant decrease in interventions, without measurable patient harm.

Multicenter StudyA National US Survey of Pediatric Emergency Department Coronavirus Pandemic Preparedness.
We aim to describe the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) preparedness efforts among a diverse set of pediatric emergency departments (PEDs) within the United States. ⋯ This national survey provides insight into PED preparedness efforts, training innovations, and practice changes implemented during the start of COVID-19 pandemic. Pediatric emergency departments implemented broad strategies including modifications to staffing, workflow, and clinical practice while using video/teleconference and simulation as preferred training modalities. Further research is needed to advance the level of preparedness and support deep learning about which preparedness actions were effective for future pandemics.
