ReviewBarriers and facilitators for general practitioners to engage in advance care planning: a systematic review.
The aim of this systematic review is to identify the perceived factors hindering or facilitating GPs in engaging in advance care planning (ACP) with their patients about care at the end of life. ⋯ Initiation of ACP in general practice may be improved by targeting the GPs' skills, attitudes, and beliefs but changes in health care organization and financing could also contribute.

ReviewSafety of telephone triage in out-of-hours care: a systematic review.
Telephone triage in patients requesting help may compromise patient safety, particularly if urgency is underestimated and the patient is not seen by a physician. The aim was to assess the research evidence on safety of telephone triage in out-of-hours primary care. ⋯ There is room for improvement in safety of telephone triage in patients who present symptoms that are high risk. As these have a low incidence, recognition of these calls poses a challenge to health care providers in daily practice.

ReviewThe effects of gatekeeping: a systematic review of the literature.
To assess the effects of physician-centred gatekeeping on health, health care utilization, and costs by conducting a systematic review of the literature. ⋯ Overall, the evidence regarding the effects of gatekeeping is of limited quality. Many studies are available regarding the effects on health care utilisation and expenditures, whereas effects on health and patient-related outcomes have been studied only exceptionally and are inconclusive.

ReviewWhat do GPs feel about sickness certification? A systematic search and narrative review.
Abstract Objective. To identify GPs' attitudes towards sickness certification. Design. ⋯ Role responsibility focused on the multiple roles GPs had to fulfil, and barriers to good practice were identified both within and outside the healthcare system. Conclusion. Any potential for changing the certification system needs to focus on reducing the potential for conflict, clarification of the roles of all stakeholders, and improving access to specialist occupational health and rehabilitation services.
