Ultrasound scoring in combination with ultrasound elastography for differentiating benign and malignant thyroid nodules.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of ultrasound scores obtained by conventional ultrasonography and ultrasound elastography in the differentiation of benign and malignant thyroid nodules in Chinese patients. ⋯ Elastography in combination with conventional ultrasonography is a promising imaging-based approach that can assist in the differential diagnosis of thyroid cancer.

Three-year experience with access to nationally funded growth hormone (GH) replacement for GH-deficient adults.
Treatment of growth hormone (GH)-deficient adults with GH has been shown to improve a range of metabolic abnormalities and enhance quality of life. However, the results of access to nationally funded treatment have not been reported. ⋯ Carefully designed access to nationally funded GH replacement in GH-deficient adults was associated with a significant improvement in quality of life over a 3-year period with mean daily GH doses lower than in the majority of previously reported studies.

Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D level and the risk of mild cognitive impairment and dementia: the Korean Longitudinal Study on Health and Aging (KLoSHA).
The association of low vitamin D status with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), a preclinical condition that can lead to dementia, has not yet been fully explored. Our aim was to investigate the association between vitamin D status and the future risk of MCI and dementia in older adults. ⋯ Severe vitamin D deficiency was independently associated with the future risk of MCI as well as dementia, especially in older adults whose baseline MMSE scores had decreased only modestly.
