Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and dependent cannabis use or cannabis use disorder (CUD+) are independent risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. Usage of cannabis for pain increased in IBD patients. However, associated cardiovascular safety remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) associated with CUD + in hospitalized IBD patients. ⋯ Our study did not find a statistically significant difference in MACCE among hospitalized IBD patients with and without CUD. This emphasizes the need for more extensive prospective studies focusing on the quantity, method, and duration of cannabis use (recreational or medicinal) in patients with IBD.

Cloninger's psychobiosocial model of personality proposes that consistent patterns of health behavior are determined by the complex interaction of different neurobiological processes of the patient's temperament and character dimensions. Poor medication adherence is a pervasive problem among glaucoma patients and can lead to increased morbidity and disability. The objective of the present study was to investigate the association between Cloninger's personality dimensions and medication adherence among glaucoma patients. ⋯ The results suggest that POAG patients with higher scores on the Self-Transcendent personality dimension are more likely to experience difficulties adhering to medication regimen. The study highlights the importance of a holistic approach to glaucoma treatment, which takes into account not only the biological aspects of disease but also the psychosocial factors that influence patient behavior. Healthcare providers may need to consider glaucoma patients' personality dimensions, beliefs and values when developing treatment plans and strategies to improve medication adherence.

The safety of the COVID-19 vaccines has been a topic of concern globally. This issue of safety is associated with vaccine hesitancy due to concerns about the adverse effects of the vaccines. Consequently, this study determined the short-term safety profile of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Ekiti State, Nigeria. ⋯ This study found that self-reported adverse effects of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine were mild and short in duration. This outcome has promising implications for improving COVID-19 vaccine uptake in the immediate environment and Nigeria.

Pressure-Enabled Drug Delivery (PEDD), a method using pressure to advance catheter-delivered drug distribution, can improve treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver metastases, but real-world evidence is limited. We compared baseline patient characteristics, clinical complexity, and post-procedure healthcare resource utilization (HRUs) and clinical complications for PEDD and non-PEDD procedures. ⋯ Despite higher baseline disease burden and complexity, post-procedure HRU and clinical complications for PEDD patients were similar to non-PEDD patients. The complex baseline clinical profile may reflect selection of challenging cases for PEDD use. Future studies should validate the benefits observed with PEDD embolization in larger samples with greater statistical power.

To evaluate the efficacy endpoints of HbA1c and body weight loss after switching from the GLP-1 receptor agonists, semaglutide or dulaglutide, to treatment with the GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist (RA) tirzepatide. ⋯ In this model-based simulation, switching from approved maintenance doses of semaglutide or dulaglutide to tirzepatide, even at the lowest approved maintenance dose of 5 mg, showed the potential to further improve HbA1c and body weight reductions.
