Extemporaneous combination therapy with nebivolol/ramipril for the treatment of hypertension: a real-world evidence study in Europe.
To describe the clinical characteristics and treatment adherence in European adult hypertensive patients starting treatment with the extemporaneous combination of nebivolol and ramipril (NR-EXC). ⋯ The combination of nebivolol and ramipril is frequently prescribed in Europe, but adherence to treatment is suboptimal. The transition to a single pill combination could enhance treatment adherence and streamline regimens, potentially leading to significant benefits. Improved adherence not only correlates with better blood pressure control but also reduces the risk of cardiovascular events, underscoring the importance of this development.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a perplexed condition addressing endocrinal, cardiometabolic and gynaecological issues. It affects women of adolescent age and is drastically increasing in the Indo-Asian ethnicity over the recent years. According to Rotterdam criteria, PCOS is characterized by clinical or biochemical excess androgen and polycystic ovarian morphology; however, it has been established in the recent years that PCOS exacerbates to further serious metabolic conditions on the long term. ⋯ Therefore, the article focuses on a potent alpha glucosidase inhibitor, acarbose which suppresses the post meal glucose and insulin by delaying the absorption of complex carbs. It exhibits cardio-metabolic and hormonal benefits and is well tolerable in the south asian population. This review highlights the safety, effectiveness of acarbose in ameliorating the long-term complications of PCOS.

To explore real-life use of the extemporaneous combination of nebivolol and valsartan (NV-EXC) in adult hypertensive patients in Europe. ⋯ The combination of nebivolol and valsartan is frequently prescribed for hypertension, but adherence remains a challenge. A potential nebivolol/valsartan SPC holds promise in enhancing adherence and optimizing therapeutic outcomes for hypertension management.

In 2019, the United States Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) updated their meningococcal serogroup B (MenB) vaccination recommendation for 16-23-year-olds from individual to shared clinical decision-making (SCDM). SCDM recommendations are individually based and informed by a decision process between patients and healthcare providers (HCPs). MenB vaccination among 16-23-year-olds remains low. We examined recorded conversations in which MenB vaccine-related discussions between HCPs and patients/caregivers took place, and how these interactions changed following the updated SCDM recommendation. ⋯ MenB vaccination discussions were brief, and the degree of shared decision-making was low. Targeted education of HCPs and patients/caregivers may improve MenB vaccination awareness, SCDM implementation, and vaccine uptake.

This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of FOLFIRI and paclitaxel in patients with advanced gastric cancer (AGC) who were previously treated with first-line modified docetaxel, cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil (mDCF), or 5-fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, docetaxel (FLOT). ⋯ Beyond progression with docetaxel-based triplet chemotherapy, FOLFIRI may be preferred as a second-line treatment over paclitaxel due to its longer mPFS and mOS.
