Meta AnalysisPrognostic implications of pulmonary artery catheter monitoring in patients with cardiogenic shock: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies.
To investigate the impact of pulmonary artery catheter (PAC) monitoring on survival of cardiogenic shock(CS), in the light of the controversies in available evidence. ⋯ PAC was associated with lower incidence of short-term mortality in CS pooling adjusted observational studies. Prospective studies are needed to confirm our hypothesis and better clarify the mechanisms of this potential prognostic benefit.

Review Meta AnalysisComparison of advanced closed-loop ventilation modes with pressure support ventilation for weaning from mechanical ventilation in adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To compare neurally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA), proportional assist ventilation (PAV), adaptive support ventilation (ASV) and Smartcare pressure support (Smartcare/PS) with standard pressure support ventilation (PSV) regarding their effectiveness for weaning critically ill adults from invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV). ⋯ Moderate certainty evidence suggest that PAV increases weaning success rates, shortens MV duration and ICU LOS compared to PSV. It is also noteworthy that NAVA seems to improve in-hospital and ICU survival.

ReviewMapping the impact of ICU design on patients, families and the ICU team: A scoping review.
Scoping review to map outcomes and describe effects of intensive care unit (ICU) design features on patients, family, and healthcare professionals (HCPs). ⋯ Studies evaluating ICU design measure disparate outcomes. Few studies included patient/ family-reported outcomes; fewer measured objective environment characteristics. Single room layouts may benefit patients and family but contribute to adverse HCP-related outcomes.
