Quantitative visualization of gastrointestinal motility in critically ill patients using a non-invasive single-channel electro amplifier: A prospective observational cohort feasibility study.
This study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of using electrogastrography (EGG)/electroenterography (EEnG) to quantitatively visualize gastrointestinal (GI) motor function in critically ill patients. ⋯ EGG/EEnG could enable quantitative visualization of GI motor function in critically ill patients. Larger studies can determine the association of GI symptoms with risk factors and prognostic factors.

Association between the development of intensive care unit-acquired weakness and body composition at intensive care unit admission: A descriptive study.
To evaluate differences in body composition at intensive care unit (ICU) admission between patients with and without ICU-acquired weakness (ICU-AW). ⋯ ICU-AW patients had poorer cellular nutritional status but similar skeletal muscle mass at ICU admission compared to non-ICU-AW patients.

Observational StudyPlatelet dysfunction in heatstroke-induced coagulopathy: A retrospective observational study.
Severe heatstroke is often complicated by disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The aim of this study was to evaluate platelet function assessed through thromboelastography (TEG) at the emergency department (ED) and DIC severity among patients with heatstroke. ⋯ These results suggested that platelet dysfunction occurs in heatstroke-induced DIC, indicating that platelet function evaluation by TEG can provide complementary information and enhance our understanding about the subtypes of heatstroke.
