Comparative Study[Sleeve lobectomy compared to pneumonectomy for the treatment of N0-N1 non-small cell lung cancer].
To compare survival, morbidity, and mortality rates for a series of patients who underwent either bronchoplastic sleeve lobectomy or pneumonectomy to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ For patients with N0-N1 non-small cell lung cancer, sleeve lobectomy offers better survival than pneumonectomy.

Case Reports[Description of a new procedure for fiberoptic bronchoscopy during noninvasive ventilation through a nasal mask in patients with acute respiratory failure].
A new method is described for performing oral fiberoptic bronchoscopy during noninvasive ventilation through the nose. The technique was successfully applied in 2 patients suffering from acute respiratory failure. ⋯ We conclude that the procedure has potential advantages over bronchoscopy through the nose and face masks or helmets, particularly for the management of secretions or in special clinical circumstances (hemoptysis or presence of foreign bodies). This method can be used to substitute for or complement other bronchoscopy techniques performed with other interfaces.

Comparative Study[Efficacy of the 6-minute walk test in evaluating ambulatory oxygen therapy].
To compare oxyhemoglobin saturation (SpO2) observed during the 6-minute walk test with that of pulse oximetry carried out during activities of daily living (ADLs). The efficacy of the 6-minute walk test for determining adequate oxygen flow to prevent arterial desaturation during ADLs was also analyzed. ⋯ The 6-minute walk test is an effective method for detecting desaturation during ADLs and for establishing the oxygen flow needed to correct exercise-induced desaturation.
