Children and Adolescents With SARS-CoV-2 Infection: Epidemiology, Clinical Course and Viral Loads.
There is limited information on severe acute respiratory syndrome virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in children. ⋯ SARS-CoV-2 infection is mainly asymptomatic or mild during childhood. Adults appear to play a key role in spread of the virus in families. Most children have moderate or high viral loads regardless of age, symptoms or severity of infection. Further studies are needed to elucidate the role of children in the ongoing pandemic and particularly in light of schools reopening and the need to prioritize groups for vaccination, when COVID-19 vaccines will be available.

Containment of a Large SARS-CoV-2 Outbreak Among Healthcare Workers in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Healthcare workers (HCWs) are particularly exposed SARS-CoV-2 because they are critical in preventing viral transmission and treating COVID-19 patients. Within HCWs, personnel of intensive care units (ICUs) are at the forefront of treating patients with a severe course of COVID-19 infection and therefore represent an extremely vulnerable group. Thus, our objective is to contribute to establish means of infection control protecting HCWs in the frontline of the current pandemic. ⋯ In the present study, a large outbreak within a team of healthcare workers of a PICU, affecting almost one fifth of the entire personnel is documented, along with detailed insights about how the outbreak was contained and how operability of the unit was maintained.

A Systematic Review of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children Associated With SARS-CoV-2 Infection.
Recently, severe manifestations associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) called multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) have been recognized. Analysis of studies for this novel syndrome is needed for a better understanding of effective management among affected children. ⋯ This systematic review delineates and summarizes clinical features, management, and outcomes of MIS-C associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although most children required intensive care and immunomodulatory therapies, favorable outcomes were reported in the majority with low-mortality rates.

Observational StudyEpidemiology of Adenovirus Infections and Outcomes of Cidofovir Treatment in Severely Ill Children.
An increase in human adenovirus (HAdV) infections among hospitalized children in Singapore was observed since 2013. Young age (<2 years) and significant comorbidities have been associated with severe HAdV infections which can result in significant morbidity and mortality. Cidofovir (CDV) has been used to treat severe HAdV infections despite limited data and efficacy. ⋯ Mortality can be high in pediatric patients with severe HAdV infections. HAdV-7 and HAdV-3 were the most common genotypes identified in our cohort with severe HAdV infection. Pneumonia is a potential risk factor for mortality in severe HAdV infections in our cohort. Early CDV administration may be considered in patients with severe HAdV infection and existing comorbidities but more studies are required.

Multicenter StudyGastrointestinal Symptoms in Severe COVID-19 Children.
There are growing evidence of clinical manifestations other than acute respiratory syndrome in severe acute respiratory syndrome associated with coronavirus 2-infected children. In our multicenter retrospective analysis, we observed among 127 severe acute respiratory syndrome associated with coronavirus 2 positive children that the presence of gastrointestinal symptoms was more frequently associated with severe and critical phenotype (P = 0.029). Moreover, having gastrointestinal symptoms was more frequently reported in patients who developed cardiac impairment.
