Case ReportsEarly-Onset Myasthenia Gravis Following COVID-19 Vaccination.
As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread worldwide, the rate of COVID-19 vaccination uptake is encouraging. Neurological complications associated with COVID-19 vaccines such as stroke, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and Bell's palsy have been reported. Recently, late-onset myasthenia gravis (MG) following COVID-19 vaccination has been reported. ⋯ A 33-year-old woman suddenly experienced generalized weakness and diplopia on the evening she had received the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The temporal relationship suggests that this new-onset MG is related to the vaccination. It also implies that COVID-19 vaccination could trigger early-onset MG symptoms in patients at risk of MG.

Case ReportsA Case Report of Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia After ChAdOx1 nCov-19 Vaccination and Heparin Use During Hemodialysis.
Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is a rare but life-threatening complication. VITT strongly mimics heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) and shares clinical features. Heparin is commonly used to prevent coagulation during hemodialysis. ⋯ There were no definitive diagnostic tools capable of differentiating between VITT and HIT in this patient. Although VITT and HIT share treatment with IVIG and non-heparin anticoagulation, distinguishing between VITT and HIT will make it possible to establish a follow-up vaccination plan in a person who has had a thrombocytopenic thrombotic event. Further research is needed to develop the tools to make a clear distinction between the clinical syndromes.

Case ReportsA Case Report for Using Methylprednisolone for Severe ARDS Caused by SARS-CoV-2 Delta Variant in a Pediatric Patient With Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.
The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) resulted in the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. COVID-19 can result in fatal comorbidities, including acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Several reports suggest that children have milder illness, though severe cases have still been reported. ⋯ High-dose methylprednisolone was administered with high positive end-expiratory pressure and low tidal volume. After ARDS treatment, oxygenation improved sufficiently to permit extubation. This case suggests that close observation is required in pediatric patients with neurologic comorbidities because of an increased risk for severe COVID-19.

Enhanced Hypoxia-Associated Genes in Impaired Contractility From Bladder Outlet Obstruction.
Hypoxia damages the bladder wall and contributes to the initiation of bladder dysfunction. The change of hypoxia is not well known in impaired bladder contractility caused by long-term bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). We aimed to find out whether hypoxia of bladder tissue is present and what signaling mechanisms are involved in the decompensated bladder in BOO. ⋯ Hypoxia genes were increased in impaired contractility because of long-term BOO. The gene expression profiles could explain the molecular mechanisms of hypoxia in impaired contractility because of long-term BOO.

Multicenter StudyPotential Utility of Fecal Calprotectin in Discriminating Colorectal Polyps From Other Major Etiologies in Children Presenting With Isolated Hematochezia.
Colorectal polyps are the most common cause of isolated hematochezia in children, which requires a colonoscopy for diagnosis. We aimed to investigate the potential utility of fecal calprotectin (FC) in assessing colorectal polyps detected by colonoscopy among children presenting with isolated hematochezia. ⋯ FC may assist in assessing the cause of lower gastrointestinal tract bleeding in children who present with isolated hematochezia.
