Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are airway diseases with similar clinical manifestations, despite differences in pathophysiology. Asthma-COPD overlap (ACO) is a condition characterized by overlapping clinical features of both diseases. There have been few reports regarding the prevalence of ACO in COPD and severe asthma cohorts. ACO is heterogeneous; patients can be classified on the basis of phenotype differences. This study was performed to analyze the prevalence of ACO in COPD and severe asthma cohorts. In addition, this study compared baseline characteristics among ACO patients according to phenotype. ⋯ The prevalence of ACO differed between COPD and severe asthma cohorts. ACO patients can be classified into four phenotype groups, such that each phenotype exhibits distinct characteristics.

Service Demand for and Awareness of a Primary Healthcare Pilot Project for People With Disabilities.
This study investigated the demand for and awareness of a primary healthcare pilot project for people with disabilities; it also sought to identify relevant determinants for demand and awareness using Andersen's behavioral model of health service use. ⋯ Chronic disease and an unmet need for medical care were key determinants of service demand, while the severity of disability was not. Thus, there is a need to review the initiative that defines service beneficiaries as people with severe disabilities. Policy makers should consider advertising programs to improve service awareness among people with disabilities.

The Risk of Gastrointestinal Cancer on Daily Intake of Low-Dose BaP in C57BL/6 for 60 Days.
Benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) is a carcinogenic compound in contaminated foodstuffs. The effect of oral intake of the environmental carcinogen BaP under low doses and frequent exposure on a digestive system has not been thoroughly verified. ⋯ This study will provide a scientific basis for researching environmental contaminated food and intestinal health following daily oral administration of BaP.
