The Prevalence and Risk Factors of Clostridioides difficile Infection in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: 10-Year South Korean Experience Based on the National Database.
Few studies evaluate the epidemiology and risk factors of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) in Asian patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We investigated the year-end prevalence, cumulative incidence and risk factors of CDI in Asian patients with IBD using a large-scale population-based cohort in Korea. ⋯ The risk of CDI in Korean patients with IBD was approximately seven times higher than that in controls without IBD, and the annual year-end prevalence of CDI continuously increased from 2008 to 2018.

The concept of research integrity (RI) refers to a set of moral and ethical standards that serve as the foundation for the execution of research activities. Integrity in research is the incorporation of principles of honesty, transparency, and respect for ethical standards and norms throughout all stages of the research endeavor, encompassing study design, data collecting, analysis, reporting, and publishing. The preservation of RI is of utmost importance to uphold the credibility and amplify the influence of scientific research while also preventing and dealing with instances of scientific misconduct. ⋯ It requires a collaborative effort and adherence to the principles of honesty, transparency, and rigorous science. By supporting a culture of RI, the scientific community may preserve its core principles and continue to contribute appropriately to society's well-being. It not only aids present research but also lays the foundation for future scientific advancements.

Perioperative Respiratory-Adverse Events Following General Anesthesia Among Pediatric Patients After COVID-19.
The perianesthetic morbidity, mortality risk and anesthesia-associated risk after preoperative coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) omicron variant in pediatric patients have not been fully demonstrated. We examined the association between preoperative COVID-19 omicron diagnosis and the incidence of overall perioperative adverse events in pediatric patients who received general anesthesia. ⋯ Pediatric patients with the preoperative COVID-19 omicron variant had increased risk of PRAEs. Patients within 2 weeks after COVID-19 or those with symptoms had a higher risk of PRAEs.

Association Between Acid-Suppressive Drugs and Risk of Rosacea: Retrospective Study Using the Korean National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort.
Rosacea is a common inflammatory skin disease with multiple etiologies. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine-2 receptor antagonists (H2RA) are acid suppressive drugs widely used for gastrointestinal (GI) diseases, and long-term use has been reported to be associated with dysbiosis which is a potential risk for development of rosacea. This study aimed to study the association between rosacea and acid suppressants in the Korean national cohort. ⋯ Results from our study indicate that H2RA or PPI is associated with the occurrence of rosacea among patients with GI diseases in the Korean population. The risk was increased in dose-dependent manner, even after adjusting for confounding variables. Clinicians should be aware of risks associated with prolonged use of acid suppressive drugs.
