ReviewFrozen Sections in Decision-Making Regarding the Axillary Procedures in Breast Conserving Surgery for Intraductal Carcinoma at Preoperative Diagnosis.
Axillary evaluation is unnecessary for pure ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS); however, it is performed because of the risk of upstaging to invasive cancer. We assessed the role of intraoperative frozen section (IOF) biopsy in reducing invasive cancer upstaging and axillary evaluation in preoperative DCIS patients. ⋯ IOF evaluation can aid in detecting the invasiveness of tumors in patients with preoperative DCIS.

Psychological and Personality Characteristics Associated With COVID-19 Vaccination Behavior in Korean General Population.
This study characterized coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination behavior in the Korean general population using cluster analysis and explored related psychological factors. ⋯ People weighed the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination against the risk of side effects when deciding to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Our findings also indicate that this vaccination behavior may be affected by coping mechanisms and psychological factors.

Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Admission and Mortality Among Patients With Severe Emergency Diseases at Emergency Departments in Korea in 2020: Registry Data From the National Emergency Department Information System.
We aimed to investigate the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on admissions of patients with acute myocardial infarction, stroke, and severe trauma, and their excess mortality in emergency departments (EDs) in South Korea using registry data from the National Emergency Department Information System (NEDIS) for patients attending EDs of regional and local emergency medical centers. During the outbreak period of 2020, there were 350,698 ED visits, which was lower than the total in 2019 (392,627 visits). Multiple logistic regression revealed that, compared with 2019, there was significantly higher ED mortality rate during the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020 (adjusted odds ratio, 1.10; 95% confidence interval, 1.07-1.13). This finding implies that during the early outbreak period, people might have avoided seeking medical care even for acute and life-threatening conditions, or transfer times at the scene to the hospital arrival were delayed, or treatment for the patients in EDs were delayed.

Change in Severity and Clinical Manifestation of MIS-C Over SARS-CoV-2 Variant Outbreaks in Korea.
There is difference in the incidence of multi-system inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in patients with different variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, however, little is known about the epidemiology in Asian countries. We investigated and compared the epidemiology of the MIS-C during omicron-dominant period with that of previous periods in South Korea. ⋯ Omicron period were associated with less severe clinical manifestation compared to pre-delta and delta periods. Although incidence rate of MIS-C was lower for the omicron period than pre-delta and delta periods, number of patients reported with MIS-C may pose a substantial clinical burden.

ReviewTrend of Women's Health Research in Korea, 2012-2020: Topic and Text Network Analysis.
With the epidemiological transition, sociodemographic changes and differential lifetime experiences of women, women's health research improves knowledge of diverse health issues and the impact of policies. To explore the initiatives of women's health research in Korea, the present study examined the trends and topics of research on women's health funded by the government. ⋯ Women's health research projects have been growing in number and funding, with limited diversity in topics. Diversifying the topics and focusing on issues beyond the breast and pregnancy would be needed to reflect the complete life course of women. Institutionalization of diverse communication channels with various interest groups for women's health would be needed to better understand women's health needs from a public health perspective.
