Epigenetic Regulation of the Expression of T Cell Stimulatory and Inhibitory Factors by Histone H3 Lysine Modification Enzymes and Its Prognostic Roles in Glioblastoma.
This study aimed to identify the specific T cell co-stimulatory and co-inhibitory factors that play prognostic roles in patients with glioblastoma. Additionally, the unique histone H3 modification enzymes that regulate the expression levels of these specific co-stimulatory and co-inhibitory factors were investigated. ⋯ These findings suggest that the expression of certain T cell co-stimulatory factors, such as CD28 and CD 137, and co-inhibitory factors, such as CTLA4 and PD-L1 are associated with prognosis of glioblastoma patients.

Obesity Is Associated With Higher Risk of Adverse Maternal and Neonatal Outcomes Than Supervised Gestational Diabetes.
Unlike gestational diabetic mellitus (GDM), which is strictly managed by most patients and physicians, obesity does not have proper management guidelines, and the importance of its management during pregnancy is often ignored. The aim of this study was to compare maternal and neonatal outcomes according to obesity and GDM, alone or in combination. ⋯ Our data showed that obese women without GDM face higher risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes than women with supervised GDM and non-obese women. We also confirmed that adverse pregnancy outcomes associated with GDM were mainly attributable to obesity among women receiving GDM education.

Needs Assessment for the Development of Training Curricula for Internal Medicine Residents.
Patient-centered outcomes can be achieved when common core and specialist competencies are achieved in a balanced manner. This study was conducted to assess the need to fill the gap between the defined competencies and learners' achievement, in order to improve the internal medicine (IM) training education curriculum for promoting patient-centered outcomes. ⋯ We identified the priorities of core competencies, the level of achievement in essential procedures and patient care with essential symptoms and signs for IM training, and the related educational methods and assessment status. This study is expected to be used as basic data for developing and revising IM training educational curriculum.

COVID-19 Vaccination Status Among Korean Pediatric Population With Comorbidities.
The pediatric population with comorbidities is a high-risk group for severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). As of January 2023, the COVID-19 vaccination rate for at least two doses among Korean children 5-11 years is low at 1.1%. We summarized the COVID-19 vaccination status for the pediatric population (5-17 years) with comorbidities through July 2022 using the National Health Insurance Service database. ⋯ However, there were substantial differences according to comorbidity category, and the 2-dose vaccination rate was lowest among children with immunodeficiency in all age groups (1.1% in 5-11-year-olds, 51.2% in 12-17-year-olds). The COVID-19 vaccination rate among Korean children has remained stagnant at a low proportion despite ongoing outreach. Thus, more proactive strategies are needed alongside continuous surveillance.

The Multifaceted Clinical Characteristics of Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection: From Pregnancy to Long-Term Outcomes.
The aim of this study was to capture multifaceted clinical characteristics of congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection from diagnosis to treatment using a multidisciplinary approach including obstetrics, pediatrics, pathology, and otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery. ⋯ Our data show that prenatal findings including maternal serologic tests and ultrasound have limited ability to detect congenital CMV in Korea. Given that CMV is associated with high rates of developmental delay and hearing loss in infants, there is an urgent need to develop specific strategies for the definite diagnosis of congenital CMV infection during the perinatal period by a multidisciplinary approach to decrease the risks of neurologic impairment and hearing loss through early antiviral treatment.
