Correlation between clinical features and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings is essential in low-back-pain patients. Most previous studies have analyzed concordance in the interpretation of lumbar MRI among a few radiologists who worked together. This may have overestimated concordance. ⋯ Images from 0.2 T MRIs appear to lead to good agreement in the reporting of disc contour, high-intensity zones, Schmorl nodes, and, in particular, Modic changes, suggesting that they can possibly be reliably used for clinical research purposes. In contrast, assessment of osteophytes and disc degeneration is not reliable.

Several studies have demonstrated that the administration of contrast agents is advantageous in magnetic resonance coronary angiography (MRCA). ⋯ Compared to non-contrast-enhanced SSFP images, only Gd-BOPTA-enhanced images show a significantly improved contrast between the coronary arteries and the surrounding tissue.

The literature is limited concerning the epidemiological issues of fracture in the fifth metacarpal bone. ⋯ Of all hand fractures, fractures of the fifth metacarpal bone are the most common. There are as many aggression-related fractures as accidental fractures in the fifth metacarpal bone. When the fracture is caused by aggression, the typical patient is a young male sustaining fracture during the weekend.

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) plays an important role in early diagnosis of Alzheimer disease (AD). There are many reports on MRS studies among individuals with AD and mild cognitive impairment (MCI). However, very few studies have compared spectroscopic data of different limbic regions among AD and MCI subjects. ⋯ The study reveals that the elevation of mI/NAA ratio in the hippocampus is more significant than that in the posterior cingulate area, which corresponds to the pathologic procession of AD. The ratios of mI/NAA in the hippocampus and in the posterior cingulate area together provide valuable discrimination among the three groups (AD, MCI, and controls). There is a significant correlation between mI/NAA ratio and cognitive decline.

Although the ABC/2 formula has been widely used to estimate the volume of intracerebral hematoma (ICH), the formula tends to overestimate hematoma volume. The volume-related imprecision of the ABC/2 formula has not been documented quantitatively. ⋯ The ABC/2 formula significantly overestimates the volume of ICH. A positive association between the estimation error and the volume of ICH is demonstrated.
