Randomized Controlled TrialRandomised clinical trial: pregabalin attenuates the development of acid-induced oesophageal hypersensitivity in healthy volunteers - a placebo-controlled study.
Acid infusion in humans induces primary and secondary oesophageal hypersensitivity. The effects of pregabalin, a centrally-acting modulator of voltage-sensitive calcium channels, on development of acid-induced oesophageal hypersensitivity remain unknown. ⋯ Pregabalin attenuates development of secondary hypersensitivity in the proximal oesophagus after distal oesophageal acidification; it may thus have a role in treatment of patients with proven oesophageal pain hypersensitivity.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyRandomised clinical trial: a comparative study of 10-day sequential therapy with 7-day standard triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection in naïve patients.
The eradication rates following standard triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori infection are declining worldwide. Recent studies have shown that sequential therapy for H. pylori infection yields high cure rates. ⋯ Ten-day sequential therapy is more effective and equally tolerated for eradication of H. pylori infection compared with standard triple therapy. Sequential therapy may have a role as first-line treatment for H. pylori infection.

Randomized Controlled TrialRandomised clinical trial: the efficacy of a 10-day sequential therapy vs. a 14-day standard proton pump inhibitor-based triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori in Korea.
The eradication rates of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) using a proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based triple therapy have declined due to antibiotic resistance worldwide. ⋯ The 10-day sequential therapy achieved significantly higher eradication rates than the 14-day standard PPI-based triple therapy in Korea.

Randomized Controlled TrialRandomised clinical trial: pregabalin attenuates experimental visceral pain through sub-cortical mechanisms in patients with painful chronic pancreatitis.
Pregabalin has a broad spectrum of analgesic and antihyperalgesic activity in both basic and clinical studies. However, its mechanisms and sites of action have yet to be determined in humans. ⋯ Pregabalin was superior to placebo for attenuation of experimental visceral pain in chronic pancreatitis patients. We suggest its antinociceptive effects to be mediated primarily through sub-cortical mechanisms.

Randomized Controlled TrialRandomised clinical trial: preventive treatment with topical rectal beclomethasone dipropionate reduces post-radiation risk of bleeding in patients irradiated for prostate cancer.
Radiotherapy is an established treatment modality for prostate cancer; however, up to a third of patients develops a radiation-induced proctopathy. ⋯ Preventive treatment with topical rectal BDP during radiotherapy for prostate cancer significantly reduces the risk of rectal bleeding and radiation-induced mucosal changes and improves patient's quality of life, but does not influence other radiation-induced symptoms.
