Review Meta Analysis
Relationship between perioperative anaphylaxis and history of allergies or allergic diseases: A systematic review and meta-analysis with meta-regression.
We conducted this meta-analysis to summarize the available evidence and evaluate the relationship between a history of allergies/allergic diseases and perioperative anaphylaxis to offer preventive decision support. ⋯ Patients with previous drug allergies, food allergies, a history of allergies, or atopy are more likely to develop anaphylaxis during the perioperative period. Additional studies should be carried out to determine whether a history of allergies/allergic diseases is a major factor for perioperative anaphylaxis when confounders are controlled.

Anesthesia departments can reduce their environmental impact. Barriers exist to the promotion of individual anesthesiologists' roles in environmentally sustainable practices. We hypothesized that accountability of departmental leadership is associated with reports of practices that can encourage and sustain environmentally favorable practices. ⋯ Anesthesia department chairs and departments with annual performance evaluations that included items related to environmental sustainability reported more activities to promote sustainability. The result suggests that leadership-sponsored initiatives directed toward environmental sustainability are associated with environmental sustainability activities in anesthesia departments.

Review Meta Analysis
Global neonatal perioperative mortality: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
There are large differences in health care among countries. A higher perioperative mortality rate (POMR) in neonates than in older children and adults has been recognized worldwide. The aim of this study was to provide a systematic review of published 24-h and 30-day POMRs in neonates from 2011 to 2022 in countries with different Human Development Index (HDI) levels. ⋯ The review demonstrated very high global POMRs in a surgical population of neonates independent of the country HDI level. We identified differences in 24-h and 30-day POMRs between low-HDI countries and other countries with higher HDI levels.
