It was the aim of this study to investigate the effects of the right lateral decubitus, left lateral decubitus and supine lying position on P-wave dispersion (PWD) in patients with heart failure (HF). ⋯ Our study revealed that patients' PWDs and maximum P-wave durations were lower in the right lateral decubitus lying position than in other positions. The clinical implication of this study needs to be further explored.

To investigate the presence of Demodex in patients with gestational diabetes and the impact of glucose regulation on Demodex density in gestational diabetes. ⋯ Our study revealed that the Demodex density was increased in gestational diabetes patients. Further, poor glucose regulation could be the mechanism responsible for the increased Demodex density in gestational diabetes patients with unregulated glucose levels compared to those with regulated glucose levels.

Serum paraoxonase 1 activity and oxidative stress in pediatric patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.
The aim of this study was to determine the oxidative stress and paraoxonase 1 (PON1) levels in children with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) compared to healthy controls, and to examine the association of demographical with oxidative stress. ⋯ The TOS and OSI levels were higher and the TAS and PON1 levels were lower in pediatric patients with pulmonary TB when compared to healthy controls. This indicates greater oxidative stress in the patients.

Does diffusion tensor tractography of the corticospinal tract correctly reflect motor function?
To investigate the consistency of diffusion tensor tractography of the corticospinal tract on motor function. CLINICAL PRESENTATIONS AND INTERVENTION: Three patients with brain tumor were admitted to our hospital with impaired motor function. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and tractography were performed in these patients to assess their affected corticospinal tract. The corticospinal tract showed interruption with moderately impaired motor function in 2 patients. The third case had significantly weakened muscle strength on the left upper limb but an intact right corticospinal tract. ⋯ These cases showed that the corticospinal tracts obtained by DTI with tractography were inconsistent with motor function. Hence, DTI should be interpreted with caution.

To report a case of type 2 Antley-Bixler syndrome (ABS). ⋯ Repair of the ambiguous genitalia in this patient was possible, but definitive inferences on the benefit of this intervention cannot be made without long-term follow-up.
