Case Reports
An unexpected complication of bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy: arteriovenous fistula.
To report a case of arteriovenous fistula (AVF) following bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy. ⋯ This case shows that clinicians should be aware of AVF, especially in cases with refractory bleeding after bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy despite normal blood coagulation parameters.

This study was conducted to identify a biomarker for multiple sclerosis (MS) that can be used as a predictor of relapse and disability. ⋯ Our results showed that SWAP-70 antibodies could potentially be utilized as relapse and prognostic biomarkers in MS. Whether or not SWAP-70 antibodies have any effect on disease mechanisms requires further investigation.

To study and compare the effects of dental amalgam and composite restorations on human dental pulp. ⋯ This study confirmed that amalgam continues to be the mechanically as well as biologically more competent restorative material. Composite could be a promising restorative material to satisfy esthetic needs for a considerable period of time. However, its biological acceptance is still in doubt.

To investigate the effects of recurrent electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) on cardiac function as assessed by echocardiography. ⋯ The mitral diastolic inflow A wave velocity increased 20 min after ECT, and this increase persisted after recurrent ECT sessions. This finding could be considered as an indicator of acutely increased sympathetic tone.

To evaluate the use of palpation of the coccyx (the coccygeal movement test, CMT) as a possible objective screening tool for the assessment of adequate localization of the pelvic floor muscles (PFMs). ⋯ This study showed that the CMT was a useful test to identify women who were able to localize their PFMs compared to those who were not, making it a potentially useful initial screening test in structured training programmes for the PFMs.
