To compare disability changes measured with the Respiratory ICF Maugeri core set on COPD patients, recovering from acute exacerbation with and without hospitalization, submitted to pulmonary rehabilitation (PR). ⋯ Disability measured with the "Respiratory ICF Maugeri core set" after PR improves in COPD patients recovering from acute exacerbation irrespective of hospitalization need. Its use an additional outcome remains to be further elucidated.KEY MESSAGESRoutine implementation of an ICF set for chronic respiratory diseases can enhance a patient-centered approach in rehabilitation for different severity conditions.Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) seems to improve global disability measured with the Respiratory ICF Maugeri core set in COPD patients recovering from acute exacerbation irrespective of hospitalization need, suggesting the use of ICF set as additional PR outcome. The description, through the ICF language, of rehabilitative needs of patients, coming "from-Home" and "from-Hospital" settings, could help staff and instrument organization.

Many types of research have been performed to improve the diagnosis, therapy, and prognosis of oropharyngeal carcinomas (OP-SCCs). Since they arise in lymphoid-rich areas and intense lymphocytic infiltration has been related to a better prognosis, a TREM-1 putative function in tumour progression and survival has been hypothesized. ⋯ While p16 shows to better stratify HPV16+ patients' outcome, TREM-1+ macrophages suggest their key importance in HPV-related OP-SCCs progression.KEY MESSAGESTREM-1 positivity correlates to the worst overall survival of HPV16-positive OPSCCs-affected patients.p16-positive HPV16 related OPSCCs patients have a better prognosis with respect to p16-negative ones.

The main risk factor for uterine scar dehiscence is a previous caesarean section. Better characterisation of the ultrasonographic features of uterine scar dehiscence may improve preoperative diagnostic accuracy in pregnant women with a caesarean scar. This study aimed to evaluate the ultrasonographic features of uterine scar dehiscence in pregnant women and maternal and neonatal outcomes. ⋯ Preoperative detection of uterine scar dehiscence in women with previous caesarean delivery helps prevent maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. However, the maximum benefit can only be obtained by scanning at appropriate intervals during pregnancy and accurate recognition of the ultrasonographic features of uterine scar dehiscence.KEY MESSAGESPreoperative detection of uterine scar dehiscence in women with previous caesarean delivery helps prevent maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality.Scanning at appropriate intervals during pregnancy and accurate recognition of the ultrasonographic features of uterine scar dehiscence could be beneficial.Even when uterine dehiscence is detected by ultrasound during the second trimester, conservative management via strict observation alone is also feasible.

Functional capacity (FC) is known to affect morbidity and mortality in kidney transplantation. Despite this important role, little is known about the variables influencing post-transplant FC. Our study aims at identifying these crucial associations. ⋯ Kidney transplantation is associated with substantial improvement in all stages of FC in KTRs. Glucocorticoid withdrawal and diabetes mellitus are potentially modifiable factors of FC and merit further considerations during pre-transplant workup and post-transplant immunosuppressive therapeutic planning.Key messagesKidney transplantation is associated with substantial improvement in all stages of FC in KTRs.Glucocorticoid withdrawal and diabetes mellitus are potentially modifiable factors of FC and merit further considerations during pre-transplant workup and post-transplant immunosuppressive therapeutic planning.

Comparative Study
Disparities in case frequency and mortality of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among various states in the United States.
To utilize publicly reported, state-level data to identify factors associated with the frequency of cases, tests, and mortality in the USA. ⋯ There were wide variations in testing and case frequencies of COVID-19 among different states in the US. States with higher population density had a higher case and testing rate. States with larger population of elderly and higher tourism had a higher mortality.
