To determine the incidence of invasive Group B streptococcal (iGBS) diseases and the factors significantly associated with iGBS mortality in adult patients. ⋯ Invasive GBS is not uncommon in non-pregnant adults, particularly among older adults and those with diabetes. Concomitant bacteraemia was frequently observed in iGBS patients. The overall mortality was low, but significant morbidities were observed.KEY MESSAGESIn our study, iGBS was not uncommon among older adults and those with diabetes.Two-thirds of patients with iGBS had bacteraemia, and the overall 30-day mortality was 11%.

Rhythm control using electrical cardioversion (CV) is a common treatment strategy for patients with symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF). To guide clinical decision making, we sought to assess if electrocardiographic interatrial blocks could predict CV failure or AF recurrence as the phenomenon is strongly associated with atrial arrhythmias. ⋯ AIAB predicted CV failure, AF recurrence as well as their composite. This study presents an easy electrocardiographic tool for the identification of patients with persistent AF who might not benefit from an elective CV in the future.KEY MESSAGESInteratrial blocks are very common in patients with atrial fibrillation.Advanced interatrial block predicts ineffective cardioversion.

To evaluate the actual perceptions of hormonal contraceptives (HC) in women of reproductive age in comparison with similar concerns of postmenopausal women in relation to hormone therapy (HT). ⋯ Our data suggest that our patients are primarily concerned about the effects of hormonal treatments on venous thrombosis, mood, breast cancer and cervical cancer risk, and, later in life, about their impact on weight gain, breast and ovarian cancer risk.KEY MESSAGESYoung patients are primarily concerned about the effects of hormonal treatments on venous thrombosis, mood, breast cancer and cervical cancer risk.Older patients are primarily concerned about the effects of hormonal treatments on weight gain, breast and ovarian cancer risk. The greatest oncological concern throughout life was about breast cancer.

Asthma is one of the most common chronic airway disease among reproductive period of women. Chronic inflammation in asthma, eosinophilia, high steroid treatment and uncontrolled asthma may cause infertility by affecting the reproductive organs, menstrual cycle and quality of life. Some patients with severe asthma have frequent exacerbations associated with persistent eosinophilic inflammation despite continuous treatment with high-dose inhaled glucocorticoids with or without oral glucocorticoids. Mepolizumab (anti-IL-5) is a succesful option of treatment. ⋯ Unexplained infertility in people with severe eosinophilic asthma may be corrected by mepolizumab treatment. However, there is not enough data regarding the use of mepolizumab during pregnancy.

Objectives: To explore psychological problems (Anxiety, Depression and Stress) in general population during Covid-19 pandemic. To find predictive effects of cognitive emotion regulation on psychological problems. Methodology: Convenient sampling technique was used to obtain the sample of 500 participants (Male = 239, Female = 261). ⋯ Among these participants, 48% (N = 242) were experiencing normal level of all these targeted psychological problems while remaining 52% (N = 258) respondents have mild to very severe level of all these disorders. Furthermore, findings of linear regression analysis illustrated that cognitive emotion regulation significantly predicts psychological problems [R2=.216; F = 51.223, p < .01] and 21% variation in psychological problems is due to cognitive emotion regulation. Conclusion: This study recommended that policy makers must develop and implement some necessary programmes to prevent and cure people from devastating psychological and mental health consequences of covid-19 on priority basis.
