Diarrhoea still ranks among the top causes of the deaths of children under five years old in the world. In solving this important health problem, it is necessary and imperative to know the health-related knowledge levels of mothers who take care of the child individually and the traditional practices they perform when their children are sick, in order to provide effective health education. ⋯ Maternal education level is determined to be a significant variable that positively affects diarrhoea knowledge levels.KEY MESSAGESDiarrhoea continues to be among the top five preventable causes of death in the world and Turkey among children under the age of 5.The knowledge level of mothers about diarrhoea plays an important role in diarrhoea management. The level of knowledge about diarrhoea differs according to the education level of mothers.Traditional practices have an important place in the management of diarrhoea by mothers.

Cytopenias following anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy: a systematic analysis for contributing factors.
Cytopenia is one of the most common adverse events following the CAR-T cell infusion, affecting the quality of life and potentially leading to life-threatening bleeding and infection. This study aimed to systematically review the cytopenias following anti-CD19 CAR-T therapy and further analyse the contributing factors. ⋯ In conclusion, neutropenia is the most frequent cytopenia after CAR-T therapy, both in all grades or grade ≥3. The incidence of cytopenias following CAR-T therapy is influenced by the age, sex, disease and number of prior therapy lines of the patients, as well as the target and costimulatory domain of CAR-T cells, and viral vectors used for manufacturing.KEY MESSAGESNeutropenia is the most frequent cytopenia after CAR-T therapy. The clinical characteristics of the patients, the design of CAR-T cells and the protocol of CAR-T treatment can influence the occurrence of cytopenias following the CAR-T therapy.

The present meta-analysis of clinical and simulation trials aimed to compare video-instructed dispatcher-assisted bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (V-DACPR) with conventional audio-instructed dispatcher-assisted bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C-DACPR). ⋯ As compared with C-DACPR, V-DACPR significantly increased prehospital ROSC and survival to hospital discharge. Under simulated resuscitation conditions, V-DACPR exhibited a higher rate of adequate chest compressions than C-DACPR.Key messagesBystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation parameters significantly depend on the dispatcher's support and the manner of the support provided.Video-instructed dispatcher-assisted bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation can increase the rate of prehospital return of spontaneous circulation and survival to hospital discharge.Video-instructed dispatcher-assisted bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation improves the quality of chest compressions compared with dispatcher-assisted resuscitation without video instruction.

The epidemic of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) poses a great challenge to pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) control. However, the incidence and prevalence of PTB among T2DM patients has not been fully determined. This meta-analysis aimed to provide the estimation on the global incidence and prevalence of PTB among T2DM patients (T2DM-PTB). ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis suggests high global incidence and prevalence of PTB among T2DM patients, underlining the necessity of more preventive interventions among T2DM patients especially in countries with a high TB-burden. Key messagesA total of 24 studies (14 cohort studies, 10 cross-sectional studies) containing 2,569,451 T2DM patients were included in this meta-analysis.The pooled incidence and prevalence of T2DM-PTB are 129.89 per 100,000 person-years (95% CI: 97.55-172.95) and 511.19 per 100,000 (95% CI: 375.94-695.09) respectively. The incidence of T2DM-PTB was significantly higher in Asia, in countries with a high TB burden and in studies whose data collection ended before 2011, but lower in studies using International Classification of Diseases-10 codes. The prevalence of T2DM-PTB was significantly higher in countries with a high TB-burden, but lower in Europe.

Neurotrophic keratopathy (NK), or neurotrophic keratitis, is a degenerative condition that results from decreased innervation to the cornea. The cornea is innervated by the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve. Neurotrophic keratopathy is most commonly caused by herpes keratitis however, any condition that disrupts the normal corneal innervation can cause NK. ⋯ KEY MESSAGESNeurotrophic keratopathy is a rare degenerative disease defined by decreased innervation to the cornea that is associated with significant morbidity. Treatment options range from lubrication alone to various medical and surgical treatments. Matrix regenerating therapy, plasma rich in growth factors, Thymosin β4, Substance P/Insulin like growth factor-1, and nicergoline are exciting novel therapies that will influence how neurotrophic keratopathy is treated in the future.
