The chemotherapy resistance often leads to chemotherapy failure. This study aims to explore the molecular mechanism by which MUC1 regulates paclitaxel resistance in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), providing scientific basis for future target selection. ⋯ MUC1 was highly expressed in A549/TAX cells, and MUC1-EGFR crosstalk with IL-6 may be due to the activation of NF-κB and MAPK pathways, which promote the enrichment of CSCs and lead to paclitaxel resistance.

Cushing's syndrome (CS) is associated with increased risk for heart failure, which often initially manifests as left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD). In this study, we aimed to explore the potential risk factors of LVDD in CS by incorporating body composition parameters. ⋯ CS was associated with marked accumulation of EAT and visceral fat, reduced skeletal muscle mass, and increased prevalence of LVDD. EATV was an independent risk factor for LVDD, suggesting the potential role of EAT in the development of LVDD in CS.

This is the first study to examine the clinical utility of measuring plasma secretoneurin (SN) levels in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), as a predictor of unplanned hospitalization, and all-cause mortality independently, and as a composite endpoint at one-year follow-up. ⋯ SN positively correlates with HF severity measured by NYHA classes and proves to be a useful prognostic parameter in predicting unplanned hospitalizations and all-cause mortality among patients with HFrEF. Patients with high SN levels may benefit from systematic follow-up and may be candidates for more aggressive treatment.

Not all patients benefit from transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) due to the heterogeneity of the tumour burden in intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To compare the outcomes of transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with molecular-targeted agents plus immune checkpoint inhibitors (TACE-MTAs-ICIs) with those of TACE for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) that were beyond the up-to-seven criteria. ⋯ For uHCC patients beyond the up-to-seven criteria, TACE-MTAs-ICIs provided superior ORR and OS. Early combined TACE and systemic treatment should shift for patients who are beyond these criteria.

To evaluate the effectiveness of a machine learning based on computed tomography (CT) radiomics to distinguish nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease (NTM-PD) from pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB). ⋯ The CT radiomics features can help distinguish between NTM-PD and PTB. Among the four classifiers, SVM showed a stable performance in effectively identifying these two diseases.
