The effects of acupressure on post-dressing pain in burn patients: A clinical randomized trial.
Burns often cause severe pain, especially during dressing changes. This study aimed to investigate the effect of acupressure on pain during dressing changes in burn patients. ⋯ Considering the experience of severe pain in burn patients, acupressure is recommended as a complementary method along with modern medicine to reduce these patients' pains.

Role of virtual reality distraction technique to improve chest burns with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) following smoke inhalation in middle-aged adults - A randomized controlled study.
Burns of the chest region constitute a common burn and develops skin contractures around the thorax region. Inhalation of toxic gases and chemical irritants during the fire leads to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Breathing exercises are painful but are needed to help counteract contractures and increase lung capacity. These patients are usually in pain and extremely anxious about chest physiotherapy. Virtual reality distraction is one such technique that is gaining immense popularity when compared to other pain distraction techniques. However, studies examining the efficacy of the virtual reality distraction technique in this population are lacking. ⋯ The reports of the study concluded that virtual reality distraction is an effective and useful technique in reducing pain and increasing lung capacity in chest burn patient with ARDS following smoke inhalation in community-dwelling middle-aged adults. In the virtual reality distraction group, the patients reported significantly less pain and clinically meaningful changes in pulmonary functions as compared to the control group (physiotherapy + relaxation).

Comparison of the effects of Benson relaxation technique and nature sounds on pain, anxiety, and body image in burn-injured patients admitted to the burn ICU: A single-blind randomized clinical trial.
Burn patients feel a lot of physiological and mental stress during treatment and rehabilitation which often cause anxiety and body image dissatisfaction. This study aimed to compare the effects of the Benson relaxation technique and nature sounds on pain anxiety and body image in burn-injured patients admitted to a burn intensive care unit (BICU). ⋯ The study findings suggested that the Benson relaxation technique and nature sounds effectively reduces pain, anxiety, and improves body image satisfaction in patients with burn injuries.

Epidermal-cell-based therapy as an adjunct to healing second degree burns-A randomized controlled pilot study.
Healing of partial-thickness (2a and 2b) burns is notoriously unpredictable as far as healing time, scarring and (hypo)pigmentation is concerned. Epidermal blister grafting is an autologous grafting technique involving transfer of epidermal islands without dermal elements. Cellutome™ is an FDA-acknowledged epidermal harvesting device. This proof-of-concept study evaluates whether blister grafting of partial-thickness burns results in improved healing compared to standard acellular treatment. ⋯ Results favor cellular over acellular technique for the treatment of partial-thickness (2a and 2b) burns. Significant improvement in erythema implies a higher quality healing process. Further studies should look primarily at larger areas of treatment, and larger sample size.

The impact of the family-centered empowerment model on the children's quality of life with chemical burns and their parent's perceived stress.
Chemical burns are challenging for children and their families due to the unpleasant health consequences. Therefore, it is necessary to provide organized programs to support and educate families suffering child burns. This study aimed at determining the impact of the Family-Centered Empowerment Model (FCEM) on the quality of life of children with chemical burns and their parents' stress. ⋯ FCEM is an effective approach to reducing parental stress and improving the children's quality of life aged 1-12 years old suffered chemical burns. Therefore, it is suggested to consider the model care plan for this population.
