Triamcinolone acetonide (TAC) is widely used for hypertrophic scars and keloids; however, TAC has variable efficacy and safety in different individuals. ⋯ TAC may be beneficial for the short-term treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids; however, 5-FU, 5-FU+TAC, and verapamil may produce superior results for medium- and long-term treatments. TAC injections at concentrations of 20 mg/ml or 40 mg/ml are more likely to result in skin atrophy compared to 5-FU or verapamil, and are more likely to cause telangiectasia than 5-FU, 5-FU+TAC, or bleomycin.

To investigate the protective effect of exogenous basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) treatment on the intestinal mucosa in scalded rats. ⋯ bFGF ameliorates permeability of intestinal mucosa after burns. The possible mechanism may be relate to bFGF could increase the expression level of tight junction proteins (TJPs).

Although blood transfusion is common in burns, data are lacking in appropriate transfusion thresholds. It has been reported that a restrictive blood transfusion policy decreases blood utilization and improves outcomes in critically ill adults, but the impact of a restrictive blood transfusion policy in burn patients is unclear. We decided to investigate the outcome of decreasing the blood transfusion threshold. ⋯ IRCT20190209042660N1.

Effect of physical therapy rehabilitation program combined with music on children with lower limb burns: A twelve-week randomized controlled study.
Burn injuries cause significant physical impairments that need comprehensive rehabilitation and coordination with the acute burn care team. Music had been shown to increase positive mood during exercise, which may result in motivation for participation in exercise programs. The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of physical therapy rehabilitation program combined with music therapy on children with lower limb burns. ⋯ Physical therapy program combined with music therapy is an effective and safe modality for improving pain, range of motion, and gait parameters in pediatrics with lower limb burn. Also, physical therapy combined with music therapy is more effective than physical therapy alone in the treatment of pediatrics with lower limb burns.

Victims of burn have particular characteristics such as high vulnerability, expensive treatment, and cost of burn services. Thus, the financing of burn services is crucially important. The purpose of the present work is to recognize the financing challenges in Iranian specialized burn hospitals (SBHs). ⋯ We suggest that health policy-makers in Iran could modify the SBHs financing system by improving resource mobilization, scaling up insurance coverage for burns, and optimizing the allocation of financial resources. Besides, we propose several points for policy entry to address SBHs financial difficulties. These points are serious attention to vulnerable and the poor burn patients, provision of burn care in multi-specialized hospitals, strengthening intra-collaboration, revision of tariffs, and payments for burn services, and preservation and realization of burn budgeting.
