Effectiveness of a topical local anaesthetic spray as analgesia for dressing changes: A double-blinded randomised pilot trial comparing an emulsion with an aqueous lidocaine formulation.
Partial thickness skin graft wounds are painful. Topically applied lidocaine has been used for analgesia in several clinical trials. This study compared the effectiveness of two different formulations of topical local anaesthetic for dressing changes of partial thickness skin graft donor sites. ⋯ The topical local anaesthetic formulations achieved low pain scores during dressing changes. The safety profile was potentially improved with the emulsion formulation of lidocaine.

Psychological and psychosocial functioning of children with burn scarring using cosmetic camouflage: A multi-centre prospective randomised controlled trial.
Burns leave patients with long-term physical scarring. Children with scarring are required to face challenges of reintegration into their community, including acceptance of an altered appearance and acceptance by others. This can be difficult given society's preoccupation with physical appearance. Limited research exists investigating validity of cosmetic camouflage as a psychosocial intervention for children with scarring. This study investigated whether using cosmetic camouflage (Microskin™) had a positive impact on health-related quality of life, self-concept and psychopathology for children and adolescents (8-17 years) with burn scarring. ⋯ Cosmetic camouflage appears to have a positive impact on quality of life particularly socialisation. Cosmetic camouflage is a valid tool to assist children with scarring to actively participate socially within their communities.

Effect of isokinetic training on muscle strength, size and gait after healed pediatric burn: A randomized controlled study.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of isokinetic training program on muscle strength, muscle size and gait parameters after healed pediatric burn. ⋯ Participation in the isokinetic training program resulted in a greater improvement in quadriceps muscle strength, size and gait parameters in pediatric burn.

Prospective study on burns treated with Integra(®), a cellulose sponge and split thickness skin graft: Comparative clinical and histological study-Randomized controlled trial.
The aim of this study was to compare three different methods to cover excised burn wounds in a randomized controlled trial. ⋯ The final results for all treatments after 12 months demonstrate equal clinical appearance, as well as histological and immunohistochemical findings.

A randomized comparison study of Aquacel Ag and Alginate Silver as skin graft donor site dressings.
This study was conducted to compare pain, healing time, infection rate, and cosmetic outcome between Aquacel Ag (convatec) and Alginate Silver (coloplast) as donor site dressings. ⋯ Based on these results, we find that Alginate Silver is better than Aquacel Ag to cover the skin graft donor site.
