The efficacy of sphenopalatine ganglion (SPG) block for pain control after endoscopic sinus surgery remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the influence of SPG block on pain intensity after endoscopic sinus surgery. ⋯ SPG block can provide additional benefits for pain management after endoscopic sinus surgery.

Meta AnalysisThe effect of dexamethasone on pain control after thyroid surgery: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
The effect of dexamethasone on postoperative pain after thyroid surgery remains controversial. We conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to explore the influence of dexamethasone versus placebo on postoperative pain after thyroid surgery. ⋯ Perioperative dexamethasone is effective to reduce the pain, nausea and vomiting after thyroid surgery.

ReviewCOVID-19 and ENT surgery: a brief review of essential precautions and triage.
This study is a brief review of the existing knowledge on the ENT surgeon's approach towards management of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. While it is being recommended to carry out only the emergent procedures and to postpone the non-urgent ones to a later date, this article is meant to provide an insight into triage of the ENT procedures and the various precautions to be taken into account by the ENT surgeons while carrying out a procedure during the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ A proper knowledge of triage would be of immense help to the ENT surgeon in minimizing the exposure to health care workers and patients during this pandemic. All patients with an unknown COVID-19 status should be considered suspects and essential precautions for their management be taken accordingly.

To give an overview of the current knowledge about COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on otolaryngology clinical practice. ⋯ Knowledge and evidence about the impact of COVID-19 infection on otolaryngology clinical practice are accumulating rapidly. Additionally to patient's management, safety of health care professionals should be a main goal right now by following strict safety guidelines.
