Multicenter Study Observational StudyBaseline functional status as the strongest predictor of in-hospital mortality in elderly patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation: Results of the NONAVASC registry.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) has been associated with higher mortality. We aimed to identify the baseline predictors of in-hospital mortality among elderly patients with non-valvular AF (NVAF) hospitalised for any reason. ⋯ The overall in-hospital mortality of elderly patients with NVFA is high. Among all factors evaluated in the global geriatric assessment the baseline functional status was the strongest predictor for in-hospital mortality on this population.

Multicenter StudyRepetitive 18F-FDG-PET/CT in patients with large-vessel giant-cell arteritis and controlled disease.
18F-FDG PET/CT can detect large-vessel involvement in giant-cell arteritis (GCA) with a good sensitivity. In patients with clinically and biologically controlled disease, we aimed to assess how vascular uptakes evolve on repetitive FDG-PET/CT. ⋯ Our study revealed long-term persistent vascular uptake on repeated FDG-PET/CT in >80% of our GCA patients with large-vessel inflammation and clinical-biological controlled disease. Prospective studies are required to confirm these findings.

Multicenter StudyImpact of prealbumin on mortality and hospital readmission in patients with acute heart failure.
Prealbumin is a maker of nutritional status and inflammation of potential prognostic value in acute heart failure (HF). The aim of this study is to evaluate if low prealbumin levels on admission predict mortality and readmissions in patients with acute HF. ⋯ Low prealbumin is common (36%) in patients with acute heart failure and it is associated with a higher short-term mortality.

Multicenter StudyDiscrimination ability of comorbidity, frailty, and subjective health to predict mortality in community-dwelling older people: Population based prospective cohort study.
To investigate the added value of comorbidity, frailty, and subjective health to mortality predictions in community-dwelling older people and whether it changes with increasing age. ⋯ Calendar age encompasses most of the discrimination ability to predict mortality. The added value of comorbidity, frailty, and subjective health to mortality predictions decreases with increasing age.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyColorectal neoplasm in cases of Clostridium septicum and Streptococcus gallolyticus subsp. gallolyticus bacteraemia.
Bacteremia with Clostridium septicum (CS) and Streptococcus gallolyticus subsp. gallolyticus (SGG) have both been associated with colorectal neoplasms (CRN) and colonoscopic examination is advised, however the differences and similarities in colorectal findings are not well known. ⋯ Both, CS and SGG bacteremia are associated with occult CRN. CS cases more often had advanced carcinomas than SGG cases, suggesting a distinct temporal association with CRN.
