Multicenter Study Comparative Study Observational StudyInappropriate prescribing to older patients admitted to hospital: a comparison of different tools of misprescribing and underprescribing.
This study aims to assess inappropriate prescribing (IP) to elderly patients during the month prior to hospitalization and to compare different IP criteria. ⋯ A high prevalence of polypharmacy and PIMs and PPOs were reported. More than half the patients had simultaneous PIMs and PPOs. The related factors to PIMs and PPOs were different.

Multicenter StudyManaging ambulatory ulcerative colitis patients with infliximab: a long term follow-up study in primary gastroenterology centers.
Infliximab (IFX) is the key treatment for ulcerative colitis (UC) unresponsive to standard treatments. The aim of the present study was to assess the efficacy and safety of IFX in treating ambulatory UC patients in primary gastroenterology centers. ⋯ IFX seems to be effective and safe in long-term treatment of outpatients affected by UC.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyPredictors of length of hospital stay among older adults admitted to acute care wards: a multicentre observational study.
Reduction in length of hospital stay (LOS) is considered as a potential strategy to optimize resource consumption and reduce health care costs. We analysed predictors of increased LOS among older patients admitted to acute care wards according to type of admission (through the Emergency Room [ER] or elective). ⋯ LOS differed between patients admitted through emergency and through elective admission. Demographic and clinical parameters can affect LOS and polypharmacy was the strongest and the only common risk factor in both groups.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyEducation, household wealth and blood pressure in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine: findings from the Demographic Health Surveys, 2005-2009.
While socioeconomic gradients in cardiovascular disease have been well established in high-income countries, this relationship is not well understood in middle-income countries. ⋯ There is compelling evidence that wealth and education gradients affect the probability of HTN for women in Albania, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, and for men in Albania.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyLong-term survival following acute heart failure: the Acute Heart Failure Database Main registry (AHEAD Main).
The in-hospital mortality of patients with acute heart failure (AHF) is reported to be 12.7% and mortality on day 30 after admission 17.2%. Less information is known about the long-term prognosis of those patients discharged after hospitalization. As such, the aim of this study was to investigate long-term survival in a cohort of patients who had been hospitalized for AHF and then discharged. ⋯ The AHEAD Main registry provides up-to-date information on the long-term prognosis of patients hospitalized with AHF. The 3-year survival of patients following day 30 of admission was 64.5%. Higher age, LV dysfunction, comorbidities and high levels of natriuretic peptides were the most powerful predictors of worse prognosis in long-term survival.
