Meta AnalysisSafety and efficacy of ultrafiltration versus diuretics in patients with decompensated heart failure: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Ultrafiltration (UF) is used for fluid removal patients with acute decompensated heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) refractory to diuretics. However, data on the relative merits of UF and diuretics are limited. ⋯ In patients with HFrEF, UF appears to be safe but might not provide significant benefits in terms of reducing the risk of mortality or readmission rates compared with those treated with diuretics.

Meta AnalysisEpidemiology of subclinical atrial fibrillation in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices: A systematic review and meta-regression.
In recent years, attention to subclinical atrial fibrillation (SCAF), defined as the presence of atrial high-rate episodes (AHREs), in patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs), has gained much interest as a determinant of clinical AF and stroke risk. We aim to perform a systematic review and meta-regression of the available scientific evidence regarding the epidemiology of SCAF in patients receiving CIEDs. ⋯ In this systematic review and meta-regression analysis, SCAF was frequent among CIED recipients and was non-linearly associated with age and follow-up time. Older age, higher thromboembolic risk, and several cardiovascular comorbidities were associated with presence of SCAF.

Meta AnalysisEfficacy and safety of Janus kinase inhibitors in patients with ankylosing spondylitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To assess the efficacy and safety of janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis (AS). ⋯ JAK inhibitors showed a satisfactory and promising efficacy in the treatment of active AS not only in mitigating disease activity, but also substantially improving patient's physical function, emotional well-being and social participation. The results of this meta-analysis provide solid evidence for JAK inhibitor as a novel therapeutic strategy for patients with active AS.

Meta AnalysisInterleukin-6 inhibitors reduce mortality in coronavirus disease-2019: An individual patient data meta-analysis from randomized controlled trials.
To assess the efficacy of IL-6 inhibitors compared to standard of care (SOC) in COVID-19 patients. ⋯ This meta-analysis of individual patient data from randomized trials shows that IL-6 inhibitors significantly reduce the risk of death compared to SOC. IL-6 inhibitors are also associated with better outcomes in terms of intubation and discharge rates compared to SOC.

Meta AnalysisAsymptomatic coronary artery disease assessed by coronary computed tomography in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Coronary artery disease (CAD) assessed by coronary computed tomography (CT) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has been investigated in several studies, but with conflicting results. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature was synthesize the evidence on this topic. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42021228710.
