The ProCore ultrasound biopsy needle, used primarily to obtain intra-abdominal tissue core biopsies, has not been widely used for endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA). In this pilot study we evaluated the utility of the ProCore needle for sampling mediastinal or hilar lymph nodes during EBUS-TBNA. ⋯ Our experience shows that the ProCore needle does not provide additive value when performing an FNA of mediastinal or hilar lymph nodes. The evaluation of more cases with this new technique is necessary to better determine the clinical utility of using ProCore during EBUS-TBNA.

The high-risk 'suspicious for papillary thyroid carcinoma' (SPTC) is a clinically relevant diagnosis in the cytological interpretation of thyroid aspirates. While The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC) has provided invaluable terminology standardization, a performance comparison for this diagnostic category has not been performed. Therefore, this study evaluates the SPTC diagnosis before and after the introduction of TBSRTC in a large meta-analysis and at a single institution. ⋯ The introduction of TBSRTC coincided with a decrease in the fraction of cases called SPTC and an increase in the malignancy risk associated with that diagnosis.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Cytological assessment of healing palatal donor site wounds and grafted gingival wounds after application of ozonated oil: an eighteen-month randomized controlled clinical trial.
The present study was undertaken to assess the therapeutic effects of topical ozonated oil on early healing of free gingival graft surgical sites. ⋯ The present study showed significant improvement in epithelial healing and gingival health after topical application of ozone-treated plant oil to gingival surgical sites.

Case Reports
Cytologic findings of metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma of the nasal cavity: a report of 2 cases.
Hepatocellular carcinoma metastasizing to the nasal cavity is rare, but nasal bleeding caused by it is difficult to treat. The reason is that a large majority of patients have a bleeding tendency due to liver cirrhosis. Accordingly, early and correct diagnosis is essential. ⋯ Aspiration cytology is useful in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma metastatic to the nasal cavity. Finding characteristic cells is important in the diagnosis. Clinical information is sure to be a convincing clue.
